I'd rather have a large trimaran...  Way more stable on the open sea.

BTW, the original dimensions of the Arc were proven very stable in rough seas in scale model testing.

I have a 21 whaler thats a great  fishing boat for lake superior and a 16 foot lund for the inland lakes. Ive got the itch for something that is just fun. sure couldnt afford that one but maybe a used 27 footer. Sure will be used. I picked up my whaler 10 years old with only 200 hours on it for a 1/3 of the price of a new one. Nothing depreciates like a boat. Not even a car.
I prefer a good fishing boat.

I don't know if I have it in me to launch a boat on my own any more... Anyway I saw a boat up in Port Angeles, WA about 15 years ago I came across a Livingston boat.  It's essentially a catamaran molded in one piece.  I never could find one around here but I still think it would be nice boat to have...

i keep mine at the small marina in town. Might pull it out a max of two times a year to go the 60 miles to lanch it in lake michigan. Last year i didnt even once. If i had to launch a boat every time i wanted to go out on the water i wouldnt own a boat either.

The problem I have with boats is everyone has a great time and I am the one who does all the work each time. Learned my lesson and sold the boats long ago. Now the cycle is another story.

The problem I have with boats is everyone has a great time and I am the one who does all the work each time. Learned my lesson and sold the boats long ago. Now the cycle is another story.

I dont mind the maintenance but what gets me is people (even my family) that want to go cruising around on a nice sunday. My boat has twin 150 2 strokes and gets  2mpg at best. A 100 miles cost a 150 bucks or more in gas. For a few years i just kept my mouth shut and not a single soul offered to help pay for fuel. Now they call and i tell them "sure we can go but your paying for half the gas" Ive yet to have one of them still wanting to go. Did it fishing too. Anymore i tell anyone coming we split the gas equaly. Heck for what ive got into that boat they should be paying double what gas costs. The straw that broke the camels back was my wife and i and two of my sisters and there husband took a ride about 40 miles one way to another town and went and had pizza at the resteraunt there. One brother in law (whos a retired dentist by the way) when it was time to pay the tab suggested we split it even. Neither even offered to cover our share. 20 flipping bucks and id spent a good hundred on gas that day. That doesnt even factor in my slip rental for the year, insurance, upkeep ect. Told my wife the other day im half thinking of selling it. Its just a money pit. maybe pick up a 17 foot center consul used whaler and sell my small boat too and just trailer it to the boat launch. It wouldnt bother me a bit but my wife and the women like a place to pee.

At lake Amstead Texas on the Mexican side there used to be a bar/restaurant. With good food and beer. I don't know if it's still there anymore, that's back when Mexico was an OK place to visit.

Had several boats large and small and they were pretty much the proverbial hole in the water where you dump tons of loot and cash into them fixing them or running on the water and sold them.

After moving to a small lake in Central Texas I settled on this one and other than the initial money spent it's simple and all I have to worry with is keeping the battery charged up and knowing where to go and not go.

my whaler has been a very reliable boat. Ive had it 9 years now and it has 520 hours on the two 150 4 strokes. All ive done to the boat is change the oil in the motors yearly. Ive had 0 issues with the boat. It gets 3 mpg cruising at 27 mph which for a 22 footer with twins is pretty good. Only regret is if i was doing it again id probably go with a 19 or even a 17. the 22 is a bit big to launch from a ramp every time i want to use it so i pay 1500 bucks a year to dock it. If i had a smaller boat id keep it at home. But when you cant see shore 30 miles out on lake superior that extra two feed gives you lots of security and so does the fact that if one motor goes down the other will easily get you home even in a storm. Where the real money pit comes with them is when its time to sell. I paid 65k for my boat back in 2012 and id be lucky to get half that now for it. But then i guess i could say the same about my pickup. Id be happy to get half what i paid for it after 9 years.
