He was the leader of the Avengers, a group of heros. A WWII Army Capitan who was put into a state of suspended animation. And woke up 50 years later. The last movie episode involved time travel, where he was able to go back and be with his wife in the 1940s. He handed the Captain America responsibility over to a Black man. There was no mention of that man being gay. Or anyone else for that matter. Scarlett Johansson played as one of the Avengers.

Marvel Announces 1st Gay Teen Captain America in Comic's 80-Year History. Just had to google it. Seems he wasn't kidding.  I didn't read the crap or watch it.
