NJ boy, 3, mauled to death by pit bulls is identified; neighbors had reportedly expressed concerns over dogs
Aziz Ahmed's 10-year-old sibling called 911 during the attack

The 3-year-old boy from New Jersey who was mauled to death by a neighbor’s pit bulls has been identified.

Relatives and friends identified the victim as Aziz Ahmed, according to reports.

NJ BOY, 3, KILLED BY PIT BULLS; MOTHER INJURED

Ahmed, his two older siblings and his mother were in the backyard of the family’s home in Carteret when the neighbor’s two pit bulls supposedly dug under a fence and crossed into the yard.

The mother was able to hurry the two older boys inside, but Aziz reportedly didn't understand what was going on. The only thing his mother could do was throw herself over him as protection, according to News 4 New York.

Ahmed was mauled to death and his mother was hospitalized in critical condition. Police said the dogs were euthanized after officers shot them.

Relatives say the family had previously talked to the dogs’ owner about concerns over the animals’ behavior, CBS New York reported.

"The mother went to the neighbor two times to let her know the dog is wild. It’s out of hand. And you know, the owner laughed it off," one person said. Another neighbor told WABC that they had contacted police "multiple times" about the dogs.

"It cost an innocent child his life," another relative said.

A neighbor said he heard shouts for help during the attack but that he was "too late" to do more. The oldest Ahmed child, who is 10, called 911.

ZOOS, SCIENTISTS AIM TO PROTECT ANIMALS FROM PEOPLE SPREADING CORONAVIRUS

Aziz was taken to hospital but could not be saved, authorities said. The family held a funeral for him Thursday while his mother remained in the hospital -- possibly never able to "fully recover" from the injuries, according to reports.

Coney Island Auto Parts, who employs Aziz’s father Tanveer, started a GoFundMe for the family, which had raised more than $80,000 as of Friday morning.

"I never had the honor of meeting little Aziz but I do know his father Tanveer who is a hardworking man and just recently moved his family from Brooklyn NY to New Jersey for a better life," a message on the page reads. "Tanveer is loved by his co-workers and truly an asset to the company. We [are] calling upon the kindness of family, friends and strangers to help the Ahmed family in this difficult time."

Neither of the dogs was registered, and it is unclear if the owner will face criminal charges for the attack.

Ahhhhhh, Another heart warming story of the wonderful, and affectionate pitbull terrier.
What a great breed. It's all in how you raise'em.

and the dogs pay the ultimate price while the owners go free...

Make the owners face the charges for the crimes committed by the dog and see how things change.  Dog kills someone, you face the needle or LWOP...!!!

Owner never should have had those dogs in the first place. Knowing what he knew about them.

People should not be aloud to own pitbulls unless they are on a chain. Of all the breeds to own why do people want to own pitbulls?

I feel like Canada had the right idea about the pit bulls. After to many instances there. DDZ, because the owners think it makes them look macho. And they arent much smarter ether. Mostly Mexicans.

Chaining up drives up anxiety levels and a bad pitbull, becomes a worse pitbull.

I don't like em either, and they are an ugly breed. Had an incident like this near here, an angery pitbull got out and was going after some kids who were playing. A family pet,German Sheppard was with the kids.
He put an end to that very quickly.

Every time you hear of a dog attacking someone, it ends up being a pitbull.  Also every time it happens the owner says, "It was always docile around people". Or, "It never bit anyone before"

I'm glad he stabbed it hard enough to kill it. The only good pitbull is a dead one.

Off topic.
About 30 years ago I pulled into the parking of my doctor next to a pickup and sitting in the back was the most beautiful chocolate lab male.
I stood there and just looked at him, and he sat there and looked back.
Then I got the bright idea to pet him.   Everything went well until I stretched out my hand.
He never made a sound, he just lifted the sides of his mouth.
So, I stood there and talked to him and he was good with that.
If I ever get a big dog, I want one just like him.

I have two labs right now, male and female. They are brother and sister from different litters. These are my first labs ever and after having them for almost 5 years I doubt I'll ever get a breed other than labs from now on.

Do you realize how ridiculous that remark  sounds.

The 3 year old paid "the ultimate price" because a jackass had to have two "testosterone/macho dogs. Pitbull dogs are a worthless, tragedy looking for their next victim.

I had a neighbor that had a very aggressive pit bull. The poor dog must have eaten something bad and poisoned itself.

Yeah, a hotdog wiener that was laced with something. Tossed over the fence.

I guess you don't think the owner bears responsibility for his dogs???  They are dogs, we are supposed to be smarter and more responsible.  I suppose if someone keeps a rattlesnake, the snake if responsible for biting someone...

I think everyone on this website with the possible exception of you, knows what I think of pitbulls AND their owners.
I've very likely shot more pitbulls in my lifetime than you've seen in yours. Some of'em in their yard, with the owner watching.

But back to your statement of "the dogs paying the  price". Their killers. Their dogs that should never have been born, kept by people with less brain matter than the dogs themselves.

Yes the owners, should be held responsible, but if a dog attacks a human, just because it feels like it, the dog needs shot.

Over the years I raised, bred, hunted and competed with 3 different breeds of dogs..all terriers.  That is, Cairns, Jack Russels and Airedales
A couple thing I would like to pass on, that not all are aware of..

If you want to approach a strange dog to get acquainted, do not move your hand toward the dog..palm down and over top of his head and/or muzzle..  Instead move your hand palm up, and bring it up under his chin.  Some dogs see the overhead move as a threat.

The more white a dog has in his coat...the more likely he will go deaf...just genetics

If you want a good dog for home..do not get it from a "show kennel".  Instead, get your dog from a "working kennel"..one that uses their dogs for what the dog was bred for.  In other words, if you want a German Shorthaired Pointer, get one from a kennel which uses their dogs for hunting...it will probably be healthier.

Don't get a chocolate Lab...  Yes, the color is intriguing, but remember..the color comes from a genetic defect, and carries it's own problems..which it's black brethren may not share.

Circa 1985 a pitbull killed my wife’s poodle.
I was upstairs and heard the screaming outside so I dropped a buckshot load in my model 24 and ran out the front door where the dog was growling at Nancy.  So I killed him.
Animal control would not give me the name of the owner

I agree, I got both of my labs from a working kennel. The bitches all are hunt test titled both waterfowl and upland. The breeder is a hunter himself so the dogs all hunt. He guarantees his dogs for health issues. My labs are both black, I didn't realize chocolates have a shorter lifespan. I don't think chocolate is a genetic defect but it is a recessive gene. Silver labs on the other hand have a genetic defect. A lot of people are breeding for silver now though which is kind of ridiculous.
