LOL, that’s funny.
We never bought Lindsay anything like that.  I told her if she wore her nice jeans long enough, pretty soon she too could look like a bum. ;D
She didn’t appreciate my humor at all.

Way back when I was building farm silos..I used to wear my jeans out like that in very short order.  My sweet wife usually patched them until there was very little original cloth to sew to!  They must have been worth big bucks.. but they got tossed!

..And that was honest wear !

Its comical and sad to think the fashion industry and consumers would fall for fake worn out clothing. Says alot about the American psyche.

Sure does, doesn't it!  The same type who would ridicule those who wear their jeans out in an honest way, are so quick to don jeans that were already worn out (by machine), for them !

One wonders about the rest of their self defined identity.

This fad has come and gone several times since I was in high school in the 80s.

I remember when I was a kid my mother would iron on a patch over the hole when my jeans started to look like that.

Judging by the 'wear standard', in the 1970s and 1980s, I threw out some jeans that would be worth $200 if I had saved them..

They have been -- in-style -- for several decades.
One day I wore ripped jeans to class at the vo-tech, twenty years ago and told an old dude I was in school with if I was going to ruin clothes with class chems. these were good enough.
He said -- hell , put them on Ebay and sell them for 40 bucks, that's what the young ones are wearing nowadays.

Maybe I should be saving my boots and teneshoes. Apparently some pay big money to act/ show they are wearing this stuff out. Pretty sure this trend started in Japan.

wonder if nice jeans will come back in style now that welfare people will have more money then they know what to do with and minimum wage jobs will pay enough to buy clothes from sack first ave. Should buy stock in dentistry. Bet theres going to be a run on gold teeth in the next 4 years!!
