Additional Barrels ordered, the clock is crawling.
« on: March 04, 2004, 02:18:00 PM »
I never posted this, but I have ordered some barrels for my Handi.  I ordered the .243 and .308 standard weight 22" bbls, and the 20 gauge rifled heavy bbl.  Yes, Jeff223 does a good sales job.

My receiver was mailed to H&R the end of January.  According to the postcard I received LAST WEEK, they received it on the 2nd of February.  I called yesterday, and the nice gent I spoke with said they were running 4-8 weeks and he couldn't say how many others were in front of me.  He suggested I call back in 2 weeks.

A piece of advice, if you want to slow down the passage of time, just order some new barrels from H&R.  I can just picture a factory full of people moving in slow motion.  It takes three days to open my box, a week to copy my serial number onto the form, 10 days to pick up a .243 bbl...............AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Not sure if I will be in the next postal match, maybe .223 if they get my receiver back, I don't know if I will be up and running with the new calibers/gauge or not.

I'll let you all know when the package finally arrives.

Yours patiently (not)

It took a good 3 weeks before I got a post card, but the barrels showed up within 2 weeks of that!

A wise man once said..." All good things...comes to he who waits"...seems appropriate here..but it won't make it go any quicker as long as your watching the calender...

The same thing happened when I ordered 2 shotgun barrels for my Tracker II! I got the postcard 2 1/2  weeks after NEF received the receiver, and the bbls came back at 4 weeks. That was  Jan 12 to Feb 13.

We must have sent ours in at the same time. They recieved mine on January 26. I talked to them on Monday of this week and they had not started on mine yet. They told me it was because the Huntsman barrels were not in stock for a while, but they are in now. I have a 270 and sent in the receiver to get 45/70, 223 bull, and Huntsman barrels.

PATIENCE HAS NEVER BEEN ONE OF MY VIRTUES. :(

I guess I got lucky this time I sent mine in late Jan.(they received it Feb 2) and got it back yesterday(3/4/04) with 4 new barrels (30-30, 7mm-08, 280, and 20 ga ultra slug).  My only complaint is that I got a walnut colored foreend on the 20 ga slug barrel and the gun I sent in was a White-tails Unlimited edition with green laminate stocks.  I just emailed H&R to see if I can get a green laminate foreend (like the ultra slug hunter deluxe has) to match my stock.  It looks terrible with a brown foreend and a green laminate stock.  Now I need to mount some scopes and see if these barrels are shooters.

I sent mine in and they recived it Jan. 20 . After 6 wks. I called and they informed me they were out of 44 mag. barrells. I hope they have fitted the 280 barrel already, and when the 44's come in they will fit it and send it to me pronto. I sure miss shooting my 223 ( to lazy to load some 220 Swift rds.)

When I asked if they had already fit the barrels that they had in stock I was told that they don't do any of it until they have all the barrels. :(

Thanks for your replies, gents.  I guess its just the luck of the draw in which bbls they have in stock.  It would be great if their inventory procedures allowed the customer to know when is a good time to get a particular barrel.

I'll have to busy myself loading some break-in/fireform  bullets for my new barrels!
