Vermont GOP governor opens up COVID vaccines for those who identify as Black, Indigenous or person of color
Republican Gov. Phil Scott tweeted about the move on Thursday

Republican lawmaker proposes bill to ban critical race theory
Vermont is opening up coronavirus vaccine eligiblity to anyone over 16 years of age who identifies as Black, Indigenous or a person of color — prompting fierce criticism online for excluding White people.

Republican Gov. Phil Scott tweeted about the move on Thursday as states gradually opened eligibility to various populations. So far, the process has tended to focus on people who are vulnerable because of their occupation, age or health status.

"If you or anyone in your household identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color (BIPOC), including anyone with Abenaki or other First Nations heritage, all household members who are 16 years or older can sign up to get a vaccine!" Scott tweeted.

NYC CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER CALLS FOR RACIAL PREFERENCES IN MEDICAL CARE, CRITICIZES 'COLORBLIND' PRACTICES

The state's website advertises "BIPOC household focused clinics" in Northern and Southern Vermont. For the Burlington area, the state offers a vaccination form that specifies eligibility is for BIPOC individuals and members of their household. The first question asks: "Do you identify as Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color (BIPOC)? This includes anyone who is non-white."

Other eligibility categories include people 50 years and older, people 16 years or older with high-risk health conditions, English language learners and people in immigrant/refugee communities, health care personnel and residents of long-term care facilities, people who work in the public safety system and school staff and child care workers. The immigrant/refugee category similarly offers "community-specific clinics."

The categories link to a site describing the state's strategy of "working toward equity."

"We still have much more to do to address the significant disparities in the rates of COVID-19 infection, hospitalization, and death among Vermonters who are Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC)," the website reads. "Right now we are working with funded community partners to understand the barriers that might limit vaccine access for BIPOC Vermonters, as these require unique public health solutions."

TOM COTTON INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO BANISH CRITICAL RACE THEORY FROM THE MILITARY

The site adds that "t makes good public health sense to allow families and households facing language and access barriers to get information and services at the same time, rather than duplicate these services later on."

The initiative faced a wave of backlash online. "Wildly unconstitutional and absurdly unethical," conservative commentator Matt Walsh tweeted. "And he’s a Republican. Of course."

"This is critical race theory," Discovery Institute researcher Chris Rufo said, referring to the controversial and now-widespread school of thought that often includes generalizations about particular races.

Earlier this week, Rufo denounced an article in which two Harvard physicians proposed racial preferences in medical care as a "moral crime."

In a statement to Fox News Friday, Rufo called on public interest attorneys to file a suit against Vermont.

"Vermont's program of racially separated standards, which denies medical services to a specific racial group, is a flagrant violation of the Fourteenth Amendment," he said.

"It follows the logic of critical race theory, which demands that society practice racial discrimination to rectify racial disparities, but is not compatible with American law. Sadly, Vermont is another example of state neo-racism that has gained in popularity in recent years. Public interest lawyers should immediately file suit against the governor."

GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATION LAUNCHES TO HELP PARENTS FIGHT 'WOKE INDOCTRINATION' IN SCHOOLS

Scott's office did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment.

Vermont's move fits a pattern of state-backed initiatives focused on minorities.

Fox News recently reported on Columbia University promoting graduation ceremonies based on race and other aspects of a person's identity. The University of Nevada, Reno is similarly offering living-learning communities focused on race and ethnicity. Both have clarified, however, that these programs don't exclude White individuals.

Localities are also pushing selective universal basic income based on race.

Rufo has been highlighting situations like these and started a coalition earlier this year designed to bring lawsuits with the aim of reaching the Supreme Court.

If they expect to get all the brown people vaccinated ,they'll have to offer them something free with every injection .

You don't need to offer nothing, the sheep are willing and ready. Just look how many have made excuses to get the jab. Plenty just on GBO.

Sounds like Black Priviege by a RINO governor. I doubt there's more than a thousand black, brown, or mud people in the whole state, and probably the msjority of them aren't keen on geting vaxxed anyway.

Vermont is the 2nd whitest state in the union behind Maine. New Hampshire is 4th. Consequently Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire have some of the lowest crimes rates in the union.

Portland is full of Somalians thanks to daddy Bush and Clinton bringing them in.

I grew up in an urban environment in Mass and now live in northern New England, there's no comparison. I didn't want my kids growing up dealing with what I had to in Mass. Yes there's still crime up here but it's not a part of daily life like it was in Mass. There has been a few over the top crimes here but I can count them on one hand. The over the top crimes in southern New England are a daily occurrence. My kids have almost no street smarts because they didn't need them growing up here.

Lots of hillybilly heroin up here i.e. fentanyl.
I lived out on Long Island and NJ.....seemed pretty gentile and safe in comparison.Never had a problem with hustlers or crooks. But yeah, I can see how the Mass, Conn and RI bunch can be tough desparadoes with less than stellar motivations.
Certainly, you got to be on guard wherever you go these days.

Oh I do
I see the mess that border jumpers
make everyday. Folks that have never
seen any of it are incredulous and
think you're the biggest racist liar
in the country when you try and describe
and explain the things that happen
with border jumpers when they flock
through and to an area.
I haven't hunted in south Texas in a
long time, and things were pretty bad
then.  It must be pure hell now for
those unfortunate ranch owners and
property owners these days. The
huge amount of trash in the remote
areas in some of those ranches was
unbelievable. It's bad right here
now and I know it's a thousand fold
worse closer to the border
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

No doubt, the fentanyl and meth are everywhere. You can't escape it no matter where you go but at least here it's kept in the shadows rather than right in front of your face like in Mass.

You want to see pure racism , just get a large group of like thinking Mexicans together like in a work place.
They will try anything they can to make the white boy look bad. I was in a dollar store last week, it was packed with Mex using EBT cards. I was the only white person in there, and there was one black lady. We looked at each other like we knew what each other were thinking. Another thing about Messcans, one of them is always wanting to be the Honcho.
