When my grandson returned from Iraq, and was given a choice of residences at the Marine's NCO housing at Paris Island's Laurel Bay area, he chose a home backed up by the woods.
He had a rear flood light, which pretty well covered the area right up to the woods, perhaps 30 yards. He started getting nocturnal visitors..coon, skunks & 'possums.
He placed sardines in the can, out at the edge of the lighted area. Head shots got them regularly. His air rifle is a Beeman switch barrel..both .177 and .22. He said the .22 was more effective.
Since one of his regular duties in Iraq, was overwatch, getting those critters was a "chip shot" for him !
