Not to take anything away from Fleetwood Mac but I much prefer the original lineup with Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer before the girls were in the band.

I like FleetwoodMac, but the cover band "Rumors of FleetwoodMac" are actually a better band in my opinion, vocals music and all.

That's why I prefaced there's nothing wrong with the classic lineup either, I like them as well. I liked Ann Wilson better than Stevie for voice that could give wood but Stevie wasn't far behind. I was referring to the band as a whole, though. Comparing straight musicianship the original lineup was better than the famous lineup. Other than Mick Fleetwood and John McVie they were two different bands playing different kinds of music. There was a little bit of a crossover though, Christine McVie played as a session pianist with the original lineup. She was also in a good band herself called Chicken Shack in the late 60's.

Well, my reference to "Rumors of Fleetwood Mac" was that they were a tribute band doing Fleetwood Mac songs in the same style.
FleetwoodMac is legendary, but the tribute band is in my opinion cleaner.
Stevie when wearing her war paint was good looking. Without it, not so much.

Unfortunately a lot of women only look good in war paint. If you find one that looks good naturally, doesn't talk too much and isn't crazy you have found a unicorn.

Pat Benatar was just naughty looking and sounding lol. So was Joan Jett, who looked like a biker chick.
Some of those CW ladys were lookers also.

Lita Ford was one that dressed the part of a hot guitarist. Not sure she could be classified as a good performer, but she had a couple hits, and looked pretty good in her skin tight leather pants.

I was always a Fleetwood Mac fan. I always thought Buckingham was one of the best guitarists. Buddy of mine was in love with Stevie. Me not so much, but she could sing. Never liked her choice of clothing when performing. I guess she needed it after her coke addiction was over, to cover up her increased weight. I saw her twice in concert when she broke off of Fleetwood Mac and went on her own. Have to give her credit. She was a great song writer.

Yeah, Stevie talked about her coke addiction in her book. And about her acquaintance with Tom Petty.
Tom sang with her on her solo album Bella Donna.

Lita Ford looked good when she was in the Runaways. She was an average guitarist but at least had decent tone. There was an all female band in the early 70's called Fanny that was way better than The Runaways but they got no recognition because they were all average looking at best and didn't dress in sexy clothes. They were pretty talented musicians though.

I'm going against the grain here but they should have kept McVie as the voice in the band. I was a fan of the band until Nicks and then not so much. She did beat McVie in the looks department but I wasn't watching them, I just listened.

Granted McVie had a good voice, and had her place in the band, but not sure she was capable of something like this that Stevie sang in Rhiannon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQAK6sVovUk I always thought Mic was an entertaining drummer also.

I think music is like pizza. Everyone has their idea of what is best and the kind they like. I do think Christie did an awesome job in songs like Songbird, and Everywhere.

I agree, she wasn't a looker compared to Stevie but from a strictly musicianship perspective she was more talented.

Having gone to some concerts in the past twenty years where bands, some times made up of people from famous bands that no longer exist, the songs sound much better than than the originals often.
Perhaps because they are jamming as much as simply covering a song; At one concert it was fairly recent bands, that still exist doing covers of other bands songs and they were better than that on vinyl or CD.

Yep, a lot of people don't know that Peter Green wrote Black Magic Woman. I think Bob Welch (the guy who sang Ebony Eyes) was actually in Fleetwood Mac when they covered For Your Love.
