Magic potions
« on: April 23, 2021, 06:01:58 PM »
A good while back when I was fishing a lot
and salt fishing as much as anything else,
There was a product that you could spray on
your whole rod and reel and line and everything
and it didn't have any scent or residue as WD40
would. It would remove all the salt and keep
any corrosion off the guides and the reel and
would condition the line and keep it from
getting stiff and brittle.

Anybody use or remember what that stuff was?

I still have about a half a bottle of
the other stuff-  Non Scents
the hand washing stuff that would
pretty much eliminate any stinky
mess you might have on your hands
that otherwise would get on your bait or lure
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Was it Salt-X ?
or Salt-Away?

I don't think so
That doesn't seem familiar

I've been trying to find all my fishing
stuff and see what I've got that's
still serviceable. For years I've had
everything in groups for specific things.
Bunch of tackle for inshore salt (redfish
speckled trout etc.) Bunch of tackle
for crappie, bunch of tackle for catfish
and hybrids, bunch for bass, bunch of
tackle for "cane pole " fishing, big stuff
for the Gulf ( oil rigs, wrecks, etc.)

I imagine in one of those boxes
of crap is a can of the other
magic potion. It did work as
advertised. Conditions line and
prevents salt water corrosion
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

I found a small can of the spray stuff.
It's called Blakemore Reel Magic.
Says UV protectant
Prevents corrosion
Ozone safe
Non sticky
Non staining
Odorless when dry
Marine
Computer/electronics
Rod/reel/lure
Gun
Archery
Home/auto

I do know and can say it sure keeps
the guides and hardware on rods and
reels used in the saltwater from turning
green.  We always used to stop at the
first decent car wash, and would rinse
the boat and trailer, and douche the
rods at the same time. They'd still get
green if they weren't disassembled and
extensively cleaned and greased.
This spray prevents all that
( that said,  I understand this is still
sold, but I don't know if the formula
is still the same or if it still works the
same. )
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .
