Wonderful video. Pilots and astronauts were my idols . I feel I missed my calling, but life got in my way.

It sure looks like the F -104. I really haven't seen any since they came to our support during some firefights but those combat pilots sure know how to fly them and put the bombs and firepower where we wanted it. At merely a 100 yards away, they flew with precision flying and diving at near tree top level to deliver their payload at unbelievable speeds.

Muskie, Ive never seen one up close. Sure would like to someday. They sure did have a big engine.
Yeager tried to reach space with it, almost but not  quite. Not like the SR-71 Blackbird or the U-2 dragon lady.

Yes. As big as those engines were, I never heard the jets coming toward us to strafe the enemy in front of us. I didn't hear the jets until they came out of their dive at tree top and head back up towards space. Only then did I hear the loud roar of the engine and the loud bursts of their gunfire. When they dropped the napalm at low altitude, now that was really a sight to behold.

Used to put napalm tanks on our F-4s. But I never saw it used being on that carrier. But the F-4s would come back without them.

Yes. I was Army. I was on my way to the Marine recruiter station to sign up when I stopped in at the Army's first to see what they had to offer. When I turned to leave the office to go next door to the Marines, the sergeant seen the back of my jacket showing a decal of the skydiving club I belonged to and he said, we have something right up your alley, the Paratroops. That extra $55 a month for jump pay sounded real good.  ;D

You just have to do it to know. I started skydiving when I was a senior in high school and the first time I was in a plain was when I jumped. I only had 14 jumps in before I went into the Army but skydived on post during advanced infantry training before going to jump school at Ft. Benning. From there it was off to Vietnam for my first tour. The star on the wings in my avatar is a combat jump star. We made the first combat jump against an enemy ground force since the Korean war on February 22 nd,1967.
Between tours in the Nam,I was trying out for the Army Parachute team, the Golden Knights, and made quite a few jumps with them but I was sent back to Nam with the 82nd Airborne Division before the Knights took me on full term. I was , however guaranteed a spot on the team if I returned from the Nam. Unfortunately, I ended up at Ft. Knox Hospital for two months ,from the Nam and upon my visit to the enlistment center there on Knox, they said they were not going to put me back on jump status and wanted me there at Knox to train recruits headed for the Nam. I decided to end my career with the Army. From there on, I just trained skydivers and had fun jumping whenever my wallet would allow me to.
My wife asked me the same question, what is it like?" so I took her to a jump club and in 5 short hours, she found out what it was like. She said, she felt like a bird.
