So what's the excuse this week?
« on: May 22, 2021, 03:59:34 PM »
I've never been a fan of mail ordering
anything I could buy local, but 21st
century circumstances sometimes
dictate that you can either mail order
whatever, or do without ( unfortunately)
In the good ol days of parcel post everything,
I very seldom had a package lost, and pretty
much everything got from whatever corner
of the nation to here in about 3 days time,
about like clockwork and dependably.
These days, I've had stuff pass right through
town on the way to the designated depot,
only to take another day or two for whoever
to re sort and pack it for the trip back to
here in the designated delivery vehicle.
I was raised in the old fashioned 20th
century world,  so by my thinking that
things shipped from distant origins
should be near instant and lost and
misplaced parcels should be nearly
unheard of with all the state of the art
tracking and routing and route management
etc.
Just me,  I'd gladly go back to the 3 or 4 day
reliable package shipping and delivery
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

I always remember those I deal or buy from and it takes a long time before it is ever shipped. Just bought a air filter on line 2 weeks ago. Finally called the guy and he said it would be sent out Monday. Where ya shipping it I asked as I never told him who I was. Mumble, mumble hmmm...

I ship most things USPS priority mail in their flat rate boxes. Just frosts me when I pay for 3 day priority and the delivery date on the receipt says 5 days? Most are now being delivered in 3 days, so maybe they are improving?

USPS used to be pretty good, but pretty
much all of em in my area are very complacent.
If there was a way to divert the energy and
work they expend diddling with their phones
toward proper package and letter handling
and customer service, they'd be on top of
the heap.
JMHO-  they do all that crazy package
routing and sorting and rerouting and
resorting so all the employees can get
a piece of the action so their jobs and
hours can be justified. A buddy that was
career military always used the word
" make- work projects " in other words
always look busy, legitimately or not

Well it's looking like 15 days from the
east side of the country.
I'm not a fan of mail order for various
reasons, and that's one of em, but it
was either use a gift card or just
let it expire.
I had looked at the tracking number at
one point by the shipping zip code,  and
using a milage calculator, it would be a
roughly 15 hour drive from there to
here. So that's an hour a day.
Also looked at the various stops and
depots,  and it's showing it's passed
right by here twice, and by the time
it's delivered it'll pass by here 3 times.

And people can't figure why the nation
is in such godawful shape.  . .
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

I ordered some gun parts from a company. They shipped from Dallas to Kansas City, back to McKinney TX, then to Sherman TX, then to my house. 5 days. They passed within a quarter mile of my house 3 times.
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett
