Going through some older pictures.
« on: May 23, 2021, 05:45:07 AM »
Going through some old pics. This was taken in 2003 after I had received a post card that if I test rode a V-Rod I could pick $50 free merchandise. Got two nice pair of gloves.

I remember you posting that picture several years ago. I think at the time Porsche was still building that motor and Harley was still selling it.
I never liked those bikes, and hated trying to sell'em.

A past co-worker bought one, and I
couldn't figure out how to ride it.
It reminded me of trying to ride the
trike my buddy had before he passed
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Yeah, the "V-Rod" likes to go straight. It fights you in the turns.

Sleek looking bike, but of course I never rode one. ...Looks like it has a comparatively long wheelbase.  ..But hey, a couple pairs of free gloves, isn't too bad.

For an import, I always admired those BMWs with their boxer engine.

I always thought the V-Rod had an identity crisis.  It's a sport bike stretched out to be a cruiser and the customers for either type of bike didn't like it.

BTW, Indian made a military bike during WWII that was laid out like a Guzzi.  It's too bad they never made a civilian version of that machine.  I think if they had, Indian might have survived the 1950's...

Why do you suppose it is tough to steer...  Looks like an extreme rake of the front fork (A La easy rider), would that have something to do, with it ?

The v-rod just don't have that regular Harley look and sound that the Harley riders like. We had one in the shop for months never could get a bite on it, finally had to run it through a bike auction and then just barley got our money back out of the thing.

It's got between a 240mm and 250mm rear tire width. Lay it into a turn, and it wants to stand back up.

Its also treacherous on grass, and gravel due to weight displacement.
