Yeah, folks like Vern Gosgen, Barbara Mandell, Johnny Bush, Earl Thomas Conley, the real country is almost gone.

Darrell McCall recorded a hit with Willie years ago called "Lilly Dale" I still go back and listen to.
Had a distant aunt back in the 50s named Lilly Dale, don't remember her last. One of my grandmothers first name was Lilly.

Yeah, depending on whose on depends on whether I watch. My dads band was popular in our area back when Johnny Bush, Darrell McCall, Tony Booth and others were going strong.
We met a lotta folks in the early 60s. George Jones, Bill Mac.

They are to have a Tony Booth day pretty soon down in Texas. It is a 2 day event 65.00 for tickets and that includes a large Bar BQ.

Not much I hear these days
that I would consider country
music. Certainly not what they
play on the radio. I don't/won't
listen to "country pop" or
"country rap " or any of the stuff
that's passed off as country
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

I was fortunate to get to see
Johnny Rodriguez at one of the
last Texas Prison Rodeos that
were held.  What a great performance
that was. I can't exactly remember,
but I'm thinking one of the women
inmates " treated " John R to a
" personal " view. There was a small
commotion afterwards, and a fistfight
with a couple of the women that the
guards stopped really quickly.
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .
