Rattlesnakes can be dangerous and even terrifying. If you plan on killing one, this is a very effective way.
Some states are blessed with rattlesnakes, others are not. But everyone seems to be intrigued by them. If you encounter one and need to dispose of it, this guy's way seems pretty legit.

The only issue is you have to catch the live rattler first. That is not just an issue; that's a big and dangerous issue that we advise not risking. However, should you find yourself with a hand full of rattler, here's one way to dispose of it.

Watch the video below:

That man bravely picked up the disturbed rattler and snapped it like a bull whip.

The neck breaks and it instantly kills the snake. This is actually very effective and could be considered one of the safest ways of killing a rattler, because the snake dies instantly and loses mobility.

Sometimes if the head is severed, the snake can still bite and the venom will still cause damage.

If you are looking to save the skin for a pair of new boots or a cool taxidermy mount, this method allows the snake to remain in good shape.

Although he shows it works very well, we encourage you to just walk the other way and don't risk being bit by the snake while attempting to catch it. And speaking of boots, you can find good snake boots at most outdoor retailers.

Kudos to you sir, even if you are a little crazy.

Severed head or broken neck, the head can still inflict a bite through reflexive reaction. Participated in quite a few rattlesnake roundup hunts in Sweetwater, Texas back in the eighties and for the life of me can't figure out why someone would want to pick one up with out a good snake hook, tongs, stick etc. to pin it down before trying to handle it. Not afraid of them but I do have a healthy respect for them, if I find one around the house it's a dead one but if it's out in open country away from homes I let it be. They play an important in controlling rats and mice.

Not so many diamond backs
here.  Timber rattlers though.
Copperheads, cottonmouths,
a few coral snakes.
There's a couple of nice 6' +
coachwhips that keep the
peace here
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .
