PETE. I don't know anything about calvinists, don't want to. They are just another bunch of folks that split God's Churches and Christian congregations. Don't know why you keep bringing them up here, well yes, I do, but I won't say. . CHARLIE.  ::) ::)

I only ask, because there seem to be some who differ in some of the TULIP points, but I guess there aren't many around who care to reply.

I have   several theological questions of which i thought , may provoke some interest,  but there seems to be few any longer who are interested in exploring the study of hermeneutics.

I don't know about others, but when I either conduct a Bible study or attend one, I want such questions brought up. Such questions generate serious study, and make for more well rounded Bible students.

to spring questions upon a class..such as ..  "Who were the Nephelim?"   That question could not be fully answered in an hour class.  Outside research would be required of the serious student, and they would start to really 'dig into the word'.

"“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  (2 Tim 2:15)

Probably most don't know they belong to a Calvinist church and those that do don't care.

Possibly so...but it does seem that a person would closely check what they are joining up with.. even if it is just a social club..

My experience is "not so much" with churches. Can't say why and certainly wouldn't speculate on why, but that seems to be the way it is.

You are quite likely right !  In general, it seems people are not near so analytical as they once were.  We see so many today, who when reading a newspaper, just read the headlines..and proceed no further....and then they are willing to argue the point, based upon headlines alone.

Well, that's the human condition. We are tribal critters. When you belong to a tribe, it isn't so much what they believe, as it is "they are my tribe", or to parapharase someone, "my tribe, right or wrong, my tribe". There are the Catholic Tribes, the Orthodox Tribes, the catholic tribes, the Calvinist Tribes, the Baptist Tribes, the tribes who won't associate with any other tribes, etc.  It isn't so much what they believe for most members, as is is "it's my tribe".

By the way, if you don't think we are tribal critters, just read history (including the BIBLE) where we see it all the time and even now we have the Democrate Tribe and the Republican Tribe and the Independent Tribe and the Conservative tribe and the Liberal tribe and the Black tribe and the White tribe and the Native American Tribes, etc. The main thing is tribal loyalty. If you can't be loyal to your tribe, you have to find another tribe. Tribes do overlap some so you can be a Black Liberal or a Black Conservative. Think about it. What tribes do you belong to?>

Gene, you are correct in much of that statement.  My only comment is that we at least until now in the USA, can have our free will to choose which 'tribe' we want to associate with, and it would serve us well if we were to examine the beliefs of that tribe, long before we join in.  As a youngster, I was theologically introduced to two other 'tribes', but after some years with them, I found more grating questions... than answers.  So, later in life, I started with a tribe that studied  and debated the scriptures... just as Jesus did with the leaders in the synagogues.  Once I had learned enough about the 'tribe', I found a theological home.  It was that simple.

Ironglows, I also was raised in a different tribe, calvinest althought that wasn't emphasised, and in my young adulthood changed to another, non calvinest, but then came to disagree with who was the head of the church, and found a church where Jesus was the head of the church. I have remained there for about 40 years and was eventually recorded in that church. I agree that each individual should understand the theology of of their church and should be led to accept that theology, but I don't see much evidence that that is actually the case for most.

i agree with you totally. You can even see it on here. Bunches ganging up on a guy to push him away. Not so much on this fourm but it was common place on the other forum. Heck im guilty of it too. Im one of the first that will tear apart a liberal posting on greybeard. I guess to me the big difference between religion and politics is if you are a member of another church that doesnt effect my day to day life in the least. Your political opinions and your vote DO effect my life everyday. So i could give a rip what religion you are as long as you believe in God your on my side. I wont try to convert you if you dont try to convert me. We have plenty enough athiests in the world to convert if thats your thing. But when you vote democtratic your sticking a knife in my back and taking food out of my familys mouth and i WILL be in your face. where you live isnt a determining factor in whether your a good man or a bad. Theres good and bad everywhere. What church doesnt determine it either because theres good and bad in every one of them. But when you use your vote to promote socialism there is no hiding and claiming your good.
