Alertness is a needed skill
« on: June 25, 2021, 08:57:17 AM »
Alertness is definely a survival skill. Example, yesterday morning as I finished my walk with our little dog (mini pin) I heard a thump across by our neighbor's cabin. Further investigation showed that a little (about 200 lb) black bear about 6' up a tree. We had just walked by without even knowing that it was there. Called the neighbor to let him know. Later in the day, I let another neighbor know (an Air B&B rental) and shortly after that, I again saw the bear walking behind their cabin. Could have been problematic if our little Jill (8 yrs old) had decided to yip at the bear.

Too many modern people have way
too many distractions to pay attention
to a single thing.
A good many people that I know of
that go deer hunting all sit in their
blinds and read or play video games
or otherwise diddle with their phones,
or take naps or guzzle beer, etc.
then they wonder why they didn't
see any activity.
I know of some that "hike " , but it's
what used to be called jogging.
They completely miss any enjoyment
of the scenery, but instead concentrate
on milage covered in X amount of time.

It's a different world today
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .
