New York handgun permits..
« on: June 25, 2021, 11:45:46 PM »
.
It has been said that we who live in NY, must renew our handgun permits every 5 years.  How does that work?

Will we be receiving notices in the mail?  ...Or will we have to keep track of the dates?

  What's the word..anybody heard?
"They have the guns and therefore we are for peace and for reformation through the ballot. When we have the guns, then it will be through the bullet"      (Saul Alinsky) ...hero of the left..

Same here in Texas. I renew on my phone with a credit card. Takes about 2 minutes.

In Ct they send a notice a couple months before the exp date. They give you 60 days past that to go to the SP headquarters and get a  new photo taken and you walk out with the permit. Gets done every 5 years also.

If it's less than a month I'd call them and find out.
Hold still while I overthink this.

Here in Georgia the county sheriff sends out a notice, then you show up at the probate court, pay your money, get your picture taken, pocket your new card, and away you go.

Right guys; There were new rules introduced by crooked Cuomo, so that's why I posted in the New York forum..but no NYers have yet answered.
Maybe they have no better info about it  than I do ?

Worst part of it , BC (before Cuomo) we didn't have to renew.  I have held mine since 1973..and my first renewal is coming up.  I think it will be about $5..

I was told there will be no letter as a reminder . This is not a renewing of our permit it is just so the state can keep track of what hand guns you have and if you got rid of or got new ones. I don't think there is any charge but I am sure they will get around to that soon.

I’ve thought from time to time that maybe he got shot just a little to soon.

no notice here. Experation date is on your ccw card just like your drivers licience. If you fail to renew before its expired you have to take the ccw training over again too. Two of my buddys did it and at the time i was an instructor and just signed there paper work but if they had to take it again it would cost them at least a 100 bucks. You can though now renew it on line. Used to cost 75 bucks to renew it now its 5 bucks. So its getting better.

Alabama is about to vote on "constitutional carry".  No permitting unless you are going out of state and need a permit that is accepted by some of the other states.

I have only been to New York City one time.  My daughter was in the high school band and got to play in the Macy's parade.  A  lane street looked like a narrow ally with the tall buildings.  I did get to go to the top of the World Trade Center.  People on the ground looked like ants.  Cars were like little bugs.  Ok to visit, but I would never live there.  My town is getting too big.  I live in Auburn, Alabama.  Now has 70,000 people not counting students.  Now they are and have been building 5-6 story buildings in downtown.  Stores on the bottom, then a level of offices and such, then apartments.  Usually restaurants on the top.  So far they won't let anyone build higher than Sanford hall and clock tower on campus, which was built about 100 years ago.

I've only been to NY City twice..once while shipping overseas and once while returning from ...  Actually I'm from the other end of the state from NY City.
I live closer to Adrian, Michigan or Fairmount, WV than I do to the big, rotten apple.  The hamlet where I live has something like 487 people, within it's bounds...and not into the 5-6 story buildings yet.

No notice in Virginia, but they aren't issued by the state.  The circuit court judge of the county you live in issues them.

Is that vote in the May 24 primaries or Nov. 8  ?

Don't think the vote comes before us voters. I think this is one the legislature only is involved with. The sheriffs are against it big time as it will cost them tons of money they now get with no restrictions on it.

So. What does Constitutional carry mean? Maybe our unsupreme court can socially rule on what that is... While they are at it maybe some illiterate like myself can mail them a dictionary with a definition of what infringe means...

Well maybe the Legislature will do the right thing for a change .
