When I first saw it, I thought of the old cabbage shredder,,but it was too curved..  I thought ..apples?

..But then, McBammer settled it for me..

Yes it is a corn cutter my late wife used to make cream corn for us and man was it ever good . Corn, cream and butter bake for a short time then put in freezer. For planting corn I used a one row planter.

My wife used to do it the old Pennsylvania Dutch way.  She would just take the fresh ears, and standing them on the stem end, she would take a dull table knife and holding it at a right angle, would scrape downward, removing and crushing the soft kernels at the same time.
