Has National Geo lost it's collective mind?
« on: July 07, 2021, 04:19:28 AM »

National geographic now says fireworks are "racist"!  Fireworks are "racist" because they unfairly affect black people.

Funny; i was beside black troops as we fired machine guns, mortars, artillery ad moved through fresh smoke bombing.  I had a black loader in my tank crew.. he loaded while I fired...and did a great job inside that smoke filled turret. Pvt Brooks was a great loader and good trooper.

Of course, sage advice for anybody would be..."if you are allergic to peanut butter..don't eat peanut butter."

Nowhere in the Twitter post does NG say that fireworks displays are racist. The “racist” tag has been added by others reacting to the comment that “vulnerable people and communities of color are disproportionately exposed to pollution from fireworks celebrations.” Is that a racist comment? Some people think so. I do not. If fireworks displays were only held in those communities time after time and the effects showed up as negative, then maybe one could say “racism”. That, however, is not the case. Any fireworks display that I have ever seen has been in an accessible area open to the publc. Is there smoke, yes. The vast amount of it is hundreds of feet up in the air, soon neutralized by the air.
Too many people nowadays are looking for things to complain about , looking for a place to point their fingers. Note that the quoted comment mentions two groups……vulnerable people is the other group. I did not read any comments about that group.

National Geographic has become tiresome lately with all their bedwetting socialist drivel. I have subscribed for some time now, but I’m over it.

If Nat Geo didn't actually use the word "racist" they certainly implied it!

In any case, my contention, as yours..disputes their findings.  Why Nat Geo should absorb themselves in the petty race arguments of today, seems like an exercise in superfluity.
