Taurus repair question
« on: March 07, 2004, 05:08:49 AM »
I recently picked up a nice Taurus 357, but quickly discovered it shoots a foot low and left at twenty yards.  Sights are fixed, not adjustable.  So it's going back to the factory, now here's the question I have: Is Taurus likely to replace the barrel to correct the alignment, or just replace the gun?  Personally, I'd rather have a three inch barrel than the four that's on it.  I have talked to their Customer Service Department, but no one there will tell me if they will do this, and they don't take phone calls in the actual repair center.  A new 3" barrel is only about $40.00, but the gun is useless as is, except as a belly gun, which isn't what I bought it for.  Whaddy'all think?

Taurus repair question

Based on my recent experiences with them what I think is that you are likely to get it back exactly as you shipped it unless you pay them to make a barrel change.

Rightly or wrongly I read into your post that you picked this up used not new. I thought I was never going to get a satisfactory solution from them on my last new one. I sure wish you luck on this one. You'll need it.

I believe Tony works in the repair area. I always got him if I asked for him when I called. Robert is head of Customer Service and while he seems to want to do a proper job his hands seem to be tied by his boss who seems to pay more attention to the head of repair than to Robert. At least this is the impression I've gotten from a LOT of phone calls to them regarding the last two new Taurus revolvers I've bought both of which ended up having to be replaced.
