lets ask Guzzi. Hes our resident socialist school teacher. problem you have NW is most of the lie like hell just like the democrats that support them. Theyve had this agenda for many years. Biden just empowered them enough to where the stupid ones are acting out. You have to keep it in perspective. Teaching is the bottom end of college grads professions. Why would an really intelligent person put 4 years of college in to make a few bucks over minimum wage. Theres a few that really care but they arent the ones acting out right now there the ones shaking there heads. For the most part id bet 75 percent of k-12 teachers were C students in high school. Its the only degree they were either smart enough or ambitious enough to get. Lots of the teachers when i were young were nothing but draft dodgers that stayed in college in a program they could handle to avoid the draft. its why every school in the country had hippys as teachers. These are the administration of today. Now the arrogant idiots think they should be considered on level with scientist, engineers, doctors and lawyers. Its about the same with blm's today. Bunch of blacks that dropped out of school and sold drugs and were criminal now want us to respect them and give them money for nothing. Teachers? Party through school, poison our kids, and want us to respect them and pay them more.

  It looks like many of them lie, just as Lloyd said.  If they don't lie by commission, they at least lie by omission.

      I think we can spot the phonies..  When asked if they teach Critical Racist Theory, they deny doing it, and claim the idea is a 'conspiracy theory'.

  So what is happening?  ...since we have so many kids who say they have been told to hide from their parents,  what they are studying?

   Easy explanation..."See that peach pie over there!  I no longer call it a peach pie, now we call it an apple pie..even though the recipe has not been changed"...  :D  ;D

Not all are like that. My wife has a niece and nephew that are long time teachers along with the nephew's wife. All are staunch consertatives and can make deragatory democrat comments along with the best on facebook. The nephew and wife are members of one of the local shooting clubs snd compete regularly. The trouble is there far too many that are the exact opposite.

The problem I have with teachers is that they belong to a powerful teachers union that instructs their members to vote for left wing radicals. They also hold tax payers hostage for whatever they want. The quality of the product is no where near the value of what they are paid. Its not all the teachers fault that our kids are not getting educated, but I haven't heard any of them stand up and say what they are doing is wrong.

my sister thats retired started an anti teachers union group. She said she was real disappointed at the turn out in the first year but she said more and more are coming all the time and about a 1/4 of the teachers in there school system are in it now. There goal is 51 percent so they can boot the union out of there school. She said they get new ones at near every meeting. Said they start the meeting with the pledge of allegiance and end it with a prayer. She thinks theres probably well over 50 percent that want the union gone right now but many are young and have kids and are afraid they will loose there job. Started with 11 teachers and her in charge. Now they even have elections and shes stepped aside because she wanted an active teacher in charge of it. Just a small school system but there is a movement brewing in this country. The liberals under sleepy joe have alienated alot of good middle class people. My guess is some teachers might actually be looking at it logicaly. Every time they go to the store or buy anything or pay there bills there seeing what biden has done to the middle class and its hurting them as much as any of us. Heck if you think about it maybe even more because the more it costs us to live the least likely we are to pass school mill ages and that means cut backs of teachers. Like ironglow alluded to  I think this movement will grow

This the southeastern corner of NM and the county is very consertative, so much so that no one runs for office as a democrat. The schools have already stated that CRT will not be taught. There are no teacher's unions here. We are looked down on and are referred to as "Little Texas" which is actually a compliment considering it's liberal source. We also have been reffered to as the" third world" by some of the same liberal element. All that liberal crap doesn't fly in this county.

The teachers here in Texas are members of a teachers union, and don't pay into Social Security having their own retirement plan.
When many of them retire, they go to work for a few days at another job, then file for Social Security based on that jobs income.
The State of Texas was talking about making it illegal, but I don't know if they ever acted on it.

   Funny how some groups are like the welfare mamas..   One of them finds a way to "game" the system, so they pass the freebie info around to other, like minded parasites.

  Back in 1997, I bought a Victorian home to redo.  The home was very solid, but had not a stitch of insulation.

  So I hired a local contractor, to insulate the house.  Back then, it cost me $ 3,300.00.....

  While he was doing the job, I had an opportunity to talk with him.  He said I was one of the few cash customers he had, which caused me to inquire further.

   He said there was a program going on, whereby a person could plead needy, and get their insulation installed free.

   He added that most of his customers who took advantage of that program were...teachers and lawyers..

  Go figure....

Several question for educators on the forum.  (1) what is your opinion on CRT? (2) Do you believe in adding armed guards to protect students from sick people who would do them harm?  (3) Do you believe Civics  and Cursive writing should be reintroduced in schools.
Hmmm. CRT…..I do not know what it is. Do you? I do not mean what you think it is or what you have read it is or seen a video about what it is or looked at information from forums like this one. I mean do you actually know what is being presented in the classroom….what is the curriculum? What texts are being used? Is it the same in Dime Box, Texas as it is in Cattaraugus County, NY or Perkinsville, Vt.?
If you do not know these things, I don’t either. Few people, if any at all, do. Many folk think that they do but they don’t.
That is part of the problem with this whole CRT business…..what is it really?
Armed Guards in schools. I have no big problem with that other than wondering how effective such a deployment would actually be. How many guards? Schools tend to be spread out. Where is the guard going to be?
I would much rather see trained volunteers from the faculty carrying.
Civics and cursive writing?  Of course, these should be taught.
Civics. Is this what you mean:
Quote
Civics is the study of citizenship and government. This one-semester course provides students with a basic understanding of civic life, politics, and government, and a short history of government’s foundation and development in this country. Students learn how power and responsibility are shared and limited by government, the impact American politics has on world affairs, the place of law in the American constitutional system, and which rights the American government guarantees its citizens. Students also examine how the world is organized politically and how civic participation in the American political system compares to that in other societies around the world today.

Cursive handwriting. I write cursive text more often than not. I practice it still at 74. I would love to see some samples of handwriting from forum members interested.
I had two memorable interchanges with parents when I was teaching.Q.: Why is my son failing? He does all his work. A.: I cannot read it. His handwriting is illegible. Parent…”well he is never going to have to write. He is going to be a barber like his father.”1

if only they thought like that. I was never allowed to be in my mothers classes. School had a rule about it but bottom line the kids respected (or feared her) enough where the only bad words i heard about her was she sure cuts no slack. Bottom line i like the rest of us i preferred the teachers that were easy marks. I dont know about my sister. I cant imagine she was a hard ass because she taught first grade her whole career. Kids from what i heard loved her. I can say without reservation both of them cared. I think for the most part a hell of alot more teachers cared back then. My opinion for what its worth is at least back in the 60s and 70s the teachers that were poison and ultra liberals were for the most part in the colleges. We had one long hair hippy teacher that taught literature (figures) and he lasted a year and the parents raised so much hell they let him go. We had a big air force base there and there kids went to our school and they funded most of the school. So when the red neck base commanders of the day didnt like hippys much and for the most part what they said was done.

   Then in reply #14, you seem to offer in defense, one who may well have just as much interest in doing the politicizing.  ;)  ;D ;D  ;D

  Indeed it is interesting, some parents/grandparents were suspicious of what was being taught after hearing some of their children's dialog.
    However, most of these questions came up AFTER the parents SAW what was actually being taught to their children via 'remote learning'.  That alone should tell us something.

     Here are some incriminating facts (IMO).

   1) The Biden administration  appoints the secretary of education.

   2)    "      "             "                 "       The head of the CDC

   3)     "     "              "                 "       The Joint chiefs of staff

   4)     "      "              "                "        Most of the military's current top brass

   5)   The  Biden administration Has taken upon itself to mandate certain social crippling restrictions (e.g. masks)

   6)    "       "              "             sets or resets the "cultural norms"

   7)    "       "              "            Has the task of controlling fiscal responsibility

   8)    "       "               "           Is required to protect our borders from foreign invasion.

   9)    "       "               "           It entrusted to provide for the safety of cities, esp when the cities fail to do so.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   So, let's take a look !
  1)   Nationally, the education is in shambles..the teachers defying all common sense, neglecting the children.
  2) The CDC has been lying and lying again, about quarantine, masks, Covid figures, while not saying a peep about the hundreds of thousands coming across our border from non-vaccinating countries.
  3)  Suddenly there seems to be a shift from accentuating war fighting capabilities..to raising turbulence about race, gender etc., wherein no real problem with such 'turbulence' has existed.
  4) Just this morning, the commander at Ft Stewart came out with a very political statement; something previously avoided by the military.
  5) So far this morning, there is suggestions that China Joe will be trying to "mandate" mask wearing, even for the vaccinated.  AGAIN...  it is a 'mind control" device.
  6) Generally, by their approval vs disapproval, the administration sets the pace for what is or is not acceptable.  Perhaps that is why we are mired is a perverse..homosexual, "offended", LGBTQ, "WOKE" and self-worshipping culture.
  7)  ..And suddenly, we find ourselves in such a federal debt, that our grandchildren, and great grandchild, will be
 paying off debts concurred by the Biden bunch !  Wil selling "artwork" by family members of the administration, become a common practice?
  8) Yeah sure, great job of protecting our border !
   9) Our cities are in the throes of becoming like a medieval European vassal state, where crime flourishes, due to no crime prevention efforts,,,,
This newly developed "mind twisting rein-doctrination" is really nuthin new. Our public schools have been doing for a little over half a century.
I've said this numerous times over the years here, and still believe it to be one of the deeper roots of present day public school immoral decline.
When I was, as was millions of public school attendees in my day told: listen to the teachers.  Pay attention, you need a  good education.
One of the topics? EVOLUTION!
Then I, along with millions of public school attendees in my day were taken to church (or not).
We were told (or not) to: listen to the preacher, and the Sunday school teachers. You need this for your Salvation.
Huh????
These two, do not coincide. They clash. They contradict. They call each other a liar. BOTH cannot be true.
Then we sent OUR KIDS to public schools, and church (or not).
And so on, and so on.
EVOLUTION 5 days a week.
GOD AND CREATIONISM 2 hours a week.
Get the idea?
EVOLUTION WON OUT!
HONESTY AND MORALITY LOST!
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett
A good old fashioned ass kicking is good enough for me. I’ve seen teachers get that too... For me. I just would like to see that schooling was more for the kids. There are some good teachers. And some bad...
But there's an issue: Gina isn't from the best neighborhood. She's a person of color. And she's a woman. All three of those things can impact her education and, as an extension, her future.
Critical theory is a philosophy that involves being critical of the prevailing view of society. In many cases, that means looking closer at beliefs that might favor privileged people, like rich, white men, over other people, like Gina.
Critical theory in education is about questioning how our educational system can best offer education to all people. It offers opportunities and understanding of the different perspective of disadvantaged members of society. For example, poor children, like Gina, often go to more poorly funded schools than their middle- and upper-class counterparts. And less funding can mean issues like availability of technology or good teachers.
Let's look at how critical theory plays out in education and what schools and teachers can do to be inclusive of all types of students.
In today's world, technology is a major part of everyday life. From smartphones (or even plain old cell phones) to computers to tablets, everyone seems to have lots of interaction with technology.
Except Gina, that is. She's in the sixth grade, and her parents can't afford a computer, so she doesn't have one at home. They also can't afford to buy her a cell phone. Tablet? She's seen them advertised on the television but never seen one in person.
Technology is not only a major part of life for most people, it is a big part of success in the business world. Most jobs require computer literacy, and many of them require a basic understanding of smartphones and tablets, too. As an extension of that, most schools have technology as part of their everyday activities. Whether it's typing an English paper on the computer or using a tablet to work on a math app, technology seems ubiquitous in schools.
But there are problems with access to technology. Poorer schools can have a harder time getting technology in the hands of their students. Remember that critical theory in education is about making sure that every student gets a good education, so lack of technology in poorer schools can be a problem that keeps everyone from getting a good education.
Unfortunately, it's not just about whether or not schools have computers. Critical theory also recognizes that people come into school with different advantages and disadvantages and focuses on how to help every student achieve their potential.
Take Gina, for example. She hasn't had access to technology outside school, like many other students have. Her teachers don't understand why she has trouble operating the computer or why she's so slow when she's typing. They sometimes get impatient, and even the ones who aren't rude about it still don't give her enough time to do her work on the computer. I know BS when I read it, watch it, or hear it. How many poor kids do you know that don't have a Tablet, PC or Cell?
  CRT..I don't care what they call it... when cornered on it's teaching, the wiggly worms disown the name (Critical Race Theory)..but are still teaching that same leftist 'gospel'!
  There are too many accounts of such racist teaching, to deny it is happening..
  As I have said before..you can call an alligator a pussycat if you wish...but it can still bite your leg off..
   A King Cobra by any other name, would be just as dangerous !
  From many accounts, white children are being told that they are somehow pariahs, their opinions not as worthy, and that somehow they owe "reparations" to some cause neither they, and in most cases, none of their antecedents had anything to do with!
   Yes, back 150+ years ago some people were misused terribly..they were even "owned".  However. there are no former slaves, nor former slave owners alive today.
  In fact only a minority of people ever owned any slaves..so most people alive today have NO connection to that sad part of history !
  Personally, I detest anyone calling me, my children, grandchildren or great grandchildren "privileged "..simply because that is a lie !
My children are grown and turned out pretty good inspite of the outside influences, and my own short comings as a parent.
All but 2 of my grandchildren are grown and seem to be doing alright.
I don't know what my 4 great grandchildren will face as adults, but I'll say my grandchildren are gonna have to deal with whatever comes.
The world is a mess, and down through history I'm sure I'm not the first to say it.
I'm gonna vote next election and see if it matters, but my long term plan is to enjoy what time I have left, and watch what going on around me, and staying away from trouble.
Situational awareness I think its called.
