IG: I was just rereading this thread when I noticed something that I missed earlier.

Comical I say...  In reply #13, you are seemingly chastising Lloyd, because it appears he is listening to biased source.  ...Biased because they may have a vested interest in seeing that their children are not politicized.
Two things: one, I did not criticize Lloyd at all. What is it that you perceive as a criticism?
Two…I did not write reply #13.

I wasn't entirely sure, so I wrote that you  "seemingly" chastened Lloyd..

You didn't write reply #13?  Somehow your name is on it!

It appears you quoted NW Hunter, then said you didn't know what CRT is.

IG: I must apologize to you and to the forum. I misread - repeatedly - the post number notation for post 13. There is no good excuse for his error....no excuse at all other than inattention and poor eyesight.

NW Hunter: I read through your post regarding Critical Theory. That is a fairly good example of what I mean when I ask whether we all understand what Critical Race Theory (CRT) is. The article from Study.com is about Critical Theory (CT) not about CRT.
Understand that Study.com is a website for teachers. It often focuses on methodology and practice as opposed to curriculum.
The CT article is about the practice of CT by teachers. CT is not taught in schools; there is no curriculum. A teacher may accept the concepts of CT or not. As far as I know, there is no mandate.
CRT, on the other hand, is an outgrowth of CT. It may develop into a curriculum. It has not yet.

I guess that school board and those teachers, want the students to become mired in LGBTQ and uncontrolled debaucherie..as apparently some of them are.

IG....yes, why can't they just teach basic skills sets? Why do these educators think they're obliged to be supreme architects of tomorrow's citizens and values according to their scheme of things? Only those teachers and other control freaks can answer that question.  ..But it sure is interesting how certain ideologies seem to greatly attract an inordinate number of control freaks!  I am speaking of such as socialism, communism, Nazism and other totalitarian ideas. I rank what I saw in that video as parents fighting back the subversion of their kids...nothing less than subversion.  exactly !

If any organization should be defunded, perhaps it's the Education sector until they get back to basic skills set instruction.

I think Dee zeroed in on the control freak personality...

every generation faces challenges. Many even face wars and mandatory service and many even DIED protecting this country. Im 65. My children are grown up. They are adults and they can make there own decisions and forge there own path. They can raise there children the way they see fit. I didnt ask my parents for advice on how to raise my kids.

I love the hell out of my grandkids but its not my job to be there safety net. I worked hard all my life to get to where im at and am going to enjoy life. If a kid or grandkid is hungry ill bring them to the store and buy them food. But i wont buy them a car or a house or give them money to blow. My dad summed it up pretty well. He said this country is going to hell in a handbasket BECAUSE of this generation. He said he has but a couple years to live and isnt going to spend it trying to bail them out or worry about what is when he isnt.

We for the most part are older and have raised out kids. We handed them the keys to this country.   Its there time to defend it or make it better or worse. If they wont stand up to this insanity in the school system and what there teaching THERE children then they will reap what there sewing. If it were my children getting taught that bs i wouldnt be typing on a keyboard or pissing and moaning id be camped outside the school and outside the state capitol. Id be grabbing teachers by the throat!!

My kids seem more interested in where there going on vacation to this year and there kids what kind of clothes and toys they have then they do in this. Maybe because it isnt happening here like in other places. Maybe its because there selfish. Maybe they just dont care about this country as much as i do. Every male in our family in my generation served in the military. Not one of my nephews nieces or grandkids served. Every one of the kids in my generation of my dads and moms brothers and sister graduated high school. Id bet 20 percent of this generation dropped out. Problem in this country is much deeper then critical race theory. Bigger problem today even keeping kids in school. In respecting and loving this country. The BIG problem is LACK OF RESPECT AND SELFISHNESS

CRT also teaches that white men have ran things in the past and ignored people of color, women, etc.  They say people of color were kept down by whites, not allowed to advance.  This is not true today, and hasn't been for over 50 years.  Slavery also was done away with, by a white people's war, over 155 years ago.  Enough is enough, get to teaching the basics very well and everything else will fall in place.  If a kid can read well, he can read about history without changing the past.  Communists believe everything is a class struggle, and CRT is a version of this "class struggle".  America did away with kings, princes, etc, and did away with class struggles.  A poor man is respected going into any store as well as a rich person if they are dressed alike.  My grandparents were poor, but dressed well when going into town to shop on Saturday's from out in the rural area they lived in.  No one knew who they were and they were respected.  Today dressing like a hood rat with pants around ankles doesn't get you respect.  Nor does dressing like a slut.  If kids want respect, then dress like you want it and be respectful to others and you will get it in return.

Only simpletons fall for the neo-racist program of the left.  I am presently reading "Gifted Hands", the auto biography of Dr, Ben Carson.

Dr Carson is a man I admire greatly.  Consider..he started life in a two parent home, which soon became a single parent home, when Ben's mother discovered that the father of Ben and his brother Curtiss, ..was a bigamist.

Ben's mother ..one child among 24, married at only 13..  As things turned out, she raised Ben and Curtiss by jherself, with almost no help from the father..  A tiny lady, she usually worked between 2 and 3 jobs.  The only assistance they got was food stamps..on a part time basis.

Here is an excerpt from Ben's book..

"Again, I have to thank my mother for my attitude. All through my growing up, i never heard her say things such as, "White people are just...."  This uneducated woman, married at 13, had been smart enough to figure out things for herself  and to emphasize to Curtiss and me, that people are people.  She never gave vent to racial prejudice, and wouldn't let us do it either."

...And some people wonder how a fellow with such a lowly start, became one of the greatest Neuro-surgeons on the planet.  That my friends..takes REAL character.

I don't know why anybody discusses these issues with a liberal. Your not gonna change the way they think because they believe themselves to be "the enlightened", and we conservatives are the uneducated, and unwashed. We
We don't feel as deeply for our fellow man as they do, and we lack foresight. They envision their utopia where life is perfect, and we all sit around together chanting, meditating, and grazing with the cows we used to eat.

Agreed. It is so very true….the basics. Properly done, properly taught, a child will have “the basics” by the time he finishes sixth grade. Ideally, he or she will have the skills needed to read about history, about ideas, about people. Ideally he or she will begin to think about where their lives will take them. Ideally they will be encouraged at home to read and reinforce what their  books are telling them. Did your children read at home? Mine did.  My sons grew up surrounded by books and ideas. They read constantly on their own They have grown into fine men….one teaches Sunday school in North Carolina. The other teaches in a difficult school in Oakland; he is regularly asked to leave faculty meetings when he points out the folly (and often the illegality) of what is happening in many classrooms.
After a child gets the basics…..at about 12 years old….what are you going to do with him or her then? Skill sets…which?

I can understand and sympathize with a teacher who has a conscience, and detests the way many students (depending upon school) are being indoctrinated, rather than educated.

...Then, to have the union going right along with the indoctrinators, must be painful !

Disturbing, to say the least. It is no longer posted at the Museum.

Those attributes, are not necessarily a white exclusivity.   Things such as a strong work ethic, good language & communication skills, a written language, Promptness and utilizing time wisely, along with most other things mentioned in  that poster, are beneficial for building a dynamic civilization and culture.
Those are not exclusive to the white culture, and even if they were, seeing the success these principles have wrought, it seems they would be worthwhile for everyone to adopt, if they don't already possess them.

   VOUCHERS! ....problem solved..

Let all schools compete to the point where their proven excellence draws the students.

If any school starts to let down..the parents will respond!  That way things will sort themselves out, and not   be a program dictated by a few self-proclaimed elitists !

A further benefit..schools will be a closer reflection of the culture they are supposed to be serving.

CT curriculum
As I wrote earlier, try to get this straight…….there is no CT curriculum. CT is a methodology, a way of presenting ideas. It is a philosophy.
We practice critical theory here when we discuss, dissent, agree, disapprove, approve, praise, criticize, explain the ideological and political forces that affect the culture that we live in.
Critical Race Theory…..that is another kettle of fish.

IG:
Quote

True enough. Reflection of the culture…….local culture? National culture? I suspect that the local culture in Boise, Idaho is different than it is in Hendersonville, NC. Despite that, those souls are American and there is common ground. So….what gets taught?
And….proven excellence. Who decides what the standard of excellence is? There should be a way of doing it. Given what you wrote about reflecting the culture…..how do you measure that?

Product? Are you talking about children or automobiles? One of the problems in American education is that too many people look at schools like they are factories, like they are manufacturing, producing the standard all purpose pupil.
Schools are not factories. They do not produce a product. Schools - grammar schools, high schools - the teachers never see the finished student. Properly taught students leave public education/private education looking for more, understanding that there is a whole lot left to learn. Properly taught the student will have the critical skills to understand when someone is trying to sell them a bill of goods and that there are plenty of people that will smile at them and arrange their demise at the same time.
You want your kids to be able to read well, to do math, to understand where places are in the world, to grasp how this great country works….democracy is messy….you want you children to understand where they fit in the mess and what they are to do. To do this……much of it happens after they leave the classroom….they have to be able to think, to be able to put ideas together correctly and to recognize when others are not doing so. That is the primary responsibility of the schools ……to teach children to think.

CRT is being taught in way too many public schools. Public schools HAVE been turned into liberal indoctrination camps, and colleges are worse.
Liberalism denies this. Especially liberal teachers.
Let them deny it, while parents need to clean out these liberal rats nests, and take back the educational systems.

I hate to think that teachers now days are all that bad compared to those that were teaching when I went through the system and that goes for college too.  Whoever it is who hires these people should be held responsible to make sure they are doing their jobs according to standards provided and approved by boards of review.

Looking back, maybe fifty percent of teaches and instructors I experienced were good teachers.  Comparatively, the military tech schooling I had was excellent.  I would judge that in those days there was little to no political leanings that were apparent.  Even the not-so-good teachers were probably as patriotic as anyone else.

I have very mixed thoughts about the value of cursive writing when we have devices with word processors that are many times more efficient than any kind of hand writing.  Some of the programs are so good these days that they automatically correct spelling errors without missing a beat.  Some of them are not so good when they have predictive writing that tries too hard to second guess what you are saying.  That feature needs more work.  I kind of wish there were microphone writers in the days when I had to sit in front of a computer and write job instructions and manuals.  Maybe not, I could be dictating right now, but my fingers are still working.

I asked my sister who retired a few years back and now chairs an anti teachers union group. She said its not being taught anywhere near her that shes heard of. That said she is furious at the teachers who refused to go back to work and got full pay for sitting at home doing nothing at the expense of the tax payers. She also said well over half the teachers today dont give a crap about there students and sure dont put in one iota of effort they dont have to to get there paycheck. But in darkgeal defense she said theres still many that do and theres more and more showing up at there meetings every week that are fed up with the union. She also said it about shocked her how many of them are closet republicans that voted for trump but were afraid to talk about it in the teachers lounge. For the most part up here the radical outspoken liberal teachers mostly work for the college not the k-12 schools. Now our college is a rats nest of liberals. I live 40 miles from it and theres a big billboard right out side of town advertising for that college and it says right on it. Northern Michigan University. The most liberal college in the state. They actually brag about it. It is in the biggest county in the UP and the ONLY county that votes blue every year.

Do you not watch the news, where Teacher Union officials are saying that they have legal funds to fight lawsuits filed against the teaching of CRT?
Do you not watch the news that shows videos of parents arguing with school board officials  that have approved CRT?
Your "did you see it" type of debate doesn't work with me. To ignore dozens, and dozens, of reports, and videos from both sides confirming the issue, is an issue, and accept your explanation/defense rhetoric would be silly.
