The reason I don't use a credit card for a &^*%$# cup of coffee, a sandwich, or any other small item.

..And don't let anyone take your card out of your sight..so they can copy it !

I have never once used my credit card at a restaurant, because the waitress takes your card to scan it.  Another good practice is to not use your bank debit card for purchases, because you may be more liable for any fraudulent charges. With a credit card you are protected from that.

I seldom carry cash anymore, but when the cashier rings me up, I'm standing right there.

Every couple years or so I get my account stolen, usually the credit card company spots the odd charge or I do.  Either way, the charges are removed and a new card sent.  It's an inconvenience, but no big deal.  I use my cc all the time, rarely use cash anymore.

I am not very 'hip' on al this electronic world, but I don't take many chances either.  A friend who is more familiar with the business (his son has a computer repair business)..tells me that if I use a credit card at a gas pump, I should hit the "clear" button once I am done.  He says that cuts the time/opportunity for unscrupulous help to 'harvest' your info.

Right, DDZ..   From what I understand, some folks have had their savings wiped out after using a debit card.  From what I understand, the debit card doesn't carry the same safeguards as the credit card.  For that reason, my debit only carries access to checking only..not savings.

Buckskin.. to my knowledge, I have not yet been hit that way..what are you doing different?  Do you have to use cards in tough neighborhoods?

Use the CC minimally, the debit never. Cash is king, other bills by check. Don't want the hassles of someone grabbing the number, using it less means less chance of it taken.Don't want sky miles or points, nothing they have interests me and I'm not flying.

 It works for me.
Hold still while I overthink this.

I only use my credit cards to buy gift cards for those that call me and say. Your grandson is in jail. So I buy them and immediately give them the gift card #’s to release my grandson (ranger) from jail. I also use it to send gift card numbers to pay off fines so I don’t go to jail. I also pay with my credit card to pay thousands of dollars to Nigeria because my computer access has expired and of course I don’t want to lose that. I could go on. Next.

Speaking of Nigeria, I've got a prince there that is sending me $16,000,000 just as soon as I pay $3,000 to cover the release fee from the bank.  Happy days.

I use it for almost everything, lots of online purchases, gas, bills, etc.   I use cash very little anymore and I haven't wrote a check in years.  I have a Cabelas card and the CC company is very good at stopping illegitimated charges and removes any that I dispute.  Not only that, I've gotten several guns for free using it over the years...

Like I said, no big deal and minor inconvenience when it happens.  Far less of an inconvenience that the convenience of having a CC.
