I finally got to go shoot my BC with the FP sight I ordered from NEF/H&R. It worked great. All I did was screw it on and was hitting on paper at 50 yards. A little windage adjustment was required (when I was finished, the O.D. of the aperture was exactly in line with the width of the hammer). Then I adjusted for elevation for a 100 yard zero.
The rifle was shooting clover leafs at 100 yards using standard store-bought Remington 405gr.
Then I decided to get an idea of how far out the sight will take me.
I am using a Lyman 17AHB on the front, the lowest possible at .404".
Setting the Rear sight to its maximum setting, that is as high as it has markings, it looked like the point of impact at 100 yards was about 5-1/2 feet (66 inches) over the point of aim. Based on the Remington ballistics calculator, this should allow for zeroing the rifle at 500 yards, maybe 600 given the fact we might be getting a little more velocity out of our longer barrels and it might be possible to set the sight a little higher than the markings indicate.
After I did that, I reset to a 100 yard zero by using the markings on the sight and tested it and, sure enough, the zero was back.
I'm very happy with the FP on the BC.
