I don't have a dog in the fight, but I do know that often news events are pre-staged..or set up to record significant events, when they are known ahead of time to be imminent!
So far as that photo..my son being a professional photographer, has several tripods of various types and functional capabilities.
The cold temps.. from what I understand, the temps on the moon vary greatly, depending upon exposure to the sun.
In any case, surely the scientists would have thought out the contingencies of such photography..a heated or cooled camera case.
Hard to believe that if NASA were launching a false narrative, they would not have thought of the same question.
then of course, I watched the moon landing on TV in 1969. I'm not saying that such a photo was not taken, but the only scenes I recall, were from the pod, or the astronaught's point of view.
I saw a landscape from the pod, then a view of the astronaught's feet and part of the ladder... them a memorable view of the astronaught's boot track in the inches deep dust.
As I said, I don't have a dog in the fight, but am offering the alternate scenario.
