crap day yesterday
« on: August 25, 2021, 10:55:30 PM »
first i went for my one month post surgery appointment on my right hip. I told the doc ive had some pretty bad pain down my leg and into my knee. So he did some xrays of my knew and said its shot too and beyond what he can do with a scope and it needs to be replaced. that will make an ankle, hip and knee on the right side and a hip on the left. Im proably going to worth some cash for recycled titanium some day. He gave me a shot in the knee and it helped alot within minutes and the pain this morning has gone from about a 6 to a 2. I could live with this level but know the shots wear off. Then about a hour after i got home i got a phone call from my hunting partner. He said he talked to the farm and they have permits but his two teenage sons have been shooting the deer. He said he will have a few permits for us a bit later but its looking like the 50-100 deer days are over. Only hope is that those kids are like typical teenagers and would rather be chasing girls then gutting deer.

sorry to hear about your knee Lloyd, especially after all the other work. Had to chuckle though that a guy with all that titanium is still wanting to chase deer - they're a lot harder to catch than girls.

I’ve found them both to be a lot of trouble but just could not help myself.

Shame to hear of your ill health and
shaky hunting situation both
JFG I was checking one of the places
we used to get to hunt at. This year
it'll be roughly $10,000.00 with membership
and any trophy fees and a breakfast.
Other places are $150.00 an acre

Knees are easy replace, up and walking within hours.  At least it's not your heart, lungs or something critical!

As for the hunting, I would think you would be happy for some young kids to be able to participate in something like that.  I've pretty much handed over the shooting to my kids and when they get older I'm thinking of finding nephews, nieces, neighbors kids, etc that I could mentor.  Way more fun when kids shoot the deer than when I do.

Sounds like you will still get some permits. How many deer does a guy need?

ya i talked to dad yesterday and he said he had his done at age 80 and was out in the garden the next day. Nothing like a hip replacement and there NOTHING like an ankle replacement. That one was rough.

My young nephew is laid up with
knee trouble today. I think he
stayed in football too long
dreaming of the scholarship offers
and the NFL. At least he's very
intelligent and excels in his
school work
