LOL,
A "yankee" comes down here to visit, then goes home.
A "damn yankee" comes down here, and stays.
What Dee? No room for a guy like myself. who spent a number of years in the south, didn't condemn their culture, but rather adapted to it.
I found many things I like about the south and still practice the habits I adopted from the South and the military , so it is "yes Sir"..."no Maam" etc, simply because I found those customs to be beneficial for daily conduct, and maintaining respect for the individual.
BTW..Question...Dee, here's one that is pertinent for you now. Way back when I was stationed at Ft Sam Houston, I had a friend from Robert Lee..near San Angelo.
He was not sure whether his home area would be considered "the south" or "the west" ! ..Nothing to lose sleep over, but still a question.
Just ruminating about it, we came to the conclusion that the west started somewhere between Dallas and San Angelo.. No good reason, except for the general attitudes.
Nothing wrong with "southwest" either..
Have you thought about that yet?
