...You will find that a lot of bullets will fail at those velocities, I had to re-think bullet selection when I got my RUM. Jackets will separate and the lead will just keep going straight through with little or no expansion. The Speer Grand-Slam worked great for me for Elk, perfect mushroom, 117 grs retained weight in the bullet I recovered. The Nosler Partition performs similar, usually lose most of the forward part of the bullet. I havent tried the Swift Bullets, but plan on doing so based on Jim's(JJ) reports. The interesting thing that he posted, is that prmium Swifts have very similar balistics to lower priced Hornady's, so you can sight in and go plinking and such with the less expensive bullets, and the Swift A Frames will last a lot longer., if you mostly just use them for hunting. Sounds like a great way to go.
Just remember with your Weatherby.....the fastest load might not neccesarrily be your best load. I would think a slower, heavy bullet would tend more to knocking a Moose down rather than punching a quick hole through at the 'speed of light'.
I have had Elk just stand there and look at me after being fatally shot with a bullet loaded to 3200 fps, and then take off running. A slower bullet would have knocked them down faster and saved having to track them.
