The Amarillo news tonight reported The Houston Catholic Charities organization has teamed with the Mormons to house Haitians who make to Houston.
They are feeding, and housing them until they are able to find housing elsewhere in the United States.

It just keeps gettin better don't it?  ::)

It surely is good that Mary and Joseph didn't have to flee religious/political persecution and that David's ancestors didn't have to flee economic/climate based hardship, isn't it? If I remember right, both of those events are in the Old Testament along with stories about other ancestors of the Jewish people having to move across borders for political, economic, and climate based reasons. Fortunately God protected them and others let them in. I understand some think OT and NT lessons aren't applicable today but just maybe we should learn from them.

That you apparently think these HAITIANS are fleeing persecution shows you to be lacking any information of any value.
These HAITIANS have been living in south American countries such as Brazil and others for Years.  ::)

These HAITIANS "AREN'T" political refugees, these HAITIANS "AREN'T" fleeing  poverty or natural disaster. These HAITIANS "AREN'T" fleeing "ANYTHING"!

These HAITIANS are "RUNNING TO" The No Longer Hiden Biden Regimes' free lunch, free housing, free medical, free welfare checks. ::)

Its amazing how many uninformed ignorant  people that are out there. It doesn't matter who does it some, are gonna defend certain groups.

guess they could be breaking into your house to get some food or money

   Lloyd;
  In all due respect, allow me to attempt to explain some folks apprehensions.  I don't want to slam other forms of the Christian faith (cults excepted).  I have 2 brothers who are Catholic, and my mother started life that way.

     Sorry, but many who seriously study the Bible, are very concerned by what they see in this pope.

   We have all seen how things have in recent years, how high positions in this world have been manipulated.  We have seen truly good and effective world leaders, toppled by mysterious means.  Consider our own President Trump!

     This mysterious force seems to be a cabal of very wealthy and powerful people. Call it what you will..Illuminati, Davos, Club of Rome, or any of a number of names..but in recent years evidence seems to point toward such a situation.

    Conservative leaders around the world are being replaced, whether through a mysterious resignations or mysterious elections...again our own presidential election of 2020.

   Many within and without the RC Church are concerned  pope's views, and his sudden rise to the papal chair.
 Were you not surprised by the sudden resignation of Pope benedict?  How often does a pope resign?

  There is much concern, in that the Bible says Christians should not join with other religions..Muslim, Hindu, Buddhists, Taoists etc.  There are man such warnings in scripture, but I will offer just  one.

   " Be ye not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.  For what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?(2 Cor 6:14)

    ..And what concord hath Christ with Belial, or what part hath he that believeth, with an infidel? (2Cor 6:15)

If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Does it matter how long ago they fled? I fled the Midwest over fifty years ago because there wasn't much need for engineers in my field. Does it matter that I have lived where I could find work all over the western US? What matters to me is that Oregon took me in even though they traditionally say visit, but then go home. I got to stay and raise my kids while I worked and went to school for some post graduate training. Does it make me an Oregonian? No, but still greatfull for the opportunity given. I suspect most of those Haitians would see it that way. Those quoted seem to say, essentially, risking their lives and the lives of their families is worth it to them rather than living as they have been. Would you like to see them executed? thus solving the problems they face. I just don't understand the lack of Christian charity shown by this so called "Christian" nation. Remember, all our ancestors fled something or somewhere or to something or somewhere unless we are native Americans.

  The OP spoke about the pope's efforts at ecumenacism, so I am trying to figure how your post is germane to the question.
  So far as your point is concerned, does it mean that you approve of what is happening at the border?

  Admittedly, the Haitians are fleeing poverty, but if we take in every population that is in poverty, we will soon be in very much the same situation.

Actually doesn't I guess. I got caught up in the hatefulness I perceived in the response. Do I approve, not completely. But we and they are where we are now. Not where we or they might want to be. So both interim and long term solutions need to be found. AND Christian compassion needs to guide those solutions. I'm not smart enough to see what those solutions are and I don't see much compassion or interest in solutions on this board or in this country.

My daughter-in-law is from Haiti. I asked her if she has family there. One cousin who works for a hotel. She has been told to stay home after the president was killed because she is apt to be killed trying to get to work. Think about that. Can't earn money because you can't get to work; much of the water and electric infrastructure destroyed by storms and earthquakes. The $ the US gave went to crooks who had no experience in repairing utilities. So you can't buy food, clean water, or heating and cooking fuel. Who would not try to get somewhere you could survive? That has been going on for years in Haiti. That's my point. And we mostly make it worse.

Well gene, why don't you cash in all your financial chips and send it to Haiti?
The ruination of the United States certainly won't improve the conditions in Haiti.
It will take HAITIANS living in Haiti to collectively take control of their country, and their future.

   " Does it matter how long ago they fled?  Yes..They fled to a country that accepted them..and gave them "refuge" before there was any immigration rules for individuals.. I fled the Midwest over fifty years ago because there wasn't much need for engineers in my field. Does it matter that I have lived where I could find work all over the western US? Did it matter that you were already an American citizen? What matters to me is that Oregon took me in even though they traditionally say visit, but then go home. No, but still greatfull for the opportunity given.  and claim it!..Being an American, we are a citizen of any of the 50 states if we move there suspect most of those Haitians would see it that way. Sorry, it doesn't matter how they SEE it, it's what is IS that counts! We are already dealing far too much these days with "feelings", rather than FACTS!Those quoted seem to say, essentially, risking their lives and the lives of their families is worth it to them rather than living as they have been. By the way, from the looks of our country, we can't show them how to take control of their country and future. We have been electing idiots as the president for the last thirty or forty years.

"Hate filled comments"
When all else fails, accuse them of hate. ;)

Your view, and your comments, are PRECISELY what No Longer Hiden Biden,  and Kamala Harris are saying.
PRECISELY!
So you agree with what the "No Longer Hiden Biden Regime" is doing, and support their view.

  I can understand your concern, having a close connection to the problem.  Yes, Haiti is a mess, and part of that is the Clinton's doing.  They supposedly helped the Haitians, but really were only helping themselves.

  If we allow so many as want to come in, access to everything...and more, as Joe promises, it could near finish off our economy, seeing how the Dems are trying to destroy it already.  I think Pres Trump had the proper program..but that was wrecked by the Dems, just as they wrecked every other worthwhile program.

  I expect your daughter-in-law came here by legal means..those folks are readily accepted.

I note that Biden is putting them on planes and sending them back to Haiti using the plan Trump set up (according to the news).

  I would hope there is no threat to her, since her marriage and green card should protect her.  From what I understand, marriage to a US citizen, is almost a sure way to citizenship for themselves.
  Now of course with children, that seems almost assured.

Congratulations to your daughter in law for doing it the right way.

As to deportation, that was proven to be a Biden lie two days ago.

They are being loaded on chartered planes at night, and flown north into large cities like Minneapolis, New York City ect. Where hopefully they won't be noticed.

The Catholic Charities organization teamed with the Mormons have an enormous warehouse converted in Houston Texas.
As of yesterday, they told local news they were expecting between 1800, and 2,000 arrivals today.

She was a teacher and, I believe, citizen before they married. Some of that I don't believe is my business, it's theirs. We are just glad she seems to like us. She makes sure they are on zoom most Sundays which we all like.

Have you not seen the Texas border down here?
Do you think those thousands of border jumpers are just evaporating?

When they finally saturate an already stressed system, that check you depend on may not be there anymore, and the opportunities you had, won't be there for your grandbaby.

I dont personally care for this pope myself. But he is the pope and contrary to what some think doesnt have mind control capability's. I think youll find that about half the catholics you talk to arent impressed with this pope but still believe in the core values of the church. He doesnt control my life or beliefs. My post wasnt to defend him. It was a simple fact. If those immigrants wouldnt have been taken in by the chruch do your really think they would have stayed home. Nope they would have been turned loose to walk around dees neighborhood hungry and looking for any way to feed there family. But as to the border mess id have to say im more on dees side. Might make me a poor christian but i dont apologize for how i feel. If those people were starving we could have sent aid to those country's. If the governments oppressed them then do what we did in afganistan and blow the sobs up. But i dont want them here. I dont want to use the money i worked hard for to support more lazy sons of bitchen welfare trash. There not coming here planning on working for Ford or ibm. there coming here because they know we have a welfare system that will let them live a better life then they had without lifting a finger. but as to the catholic church and the rest of the churches feeding them and giving them shelter isnt increasing the numbers. There already coming and id bet not one thinks "heck im going to american because the catholic church will help me" There coming anyway. Either the churches feed them or there going to be breaking into your home or digging in your trash. Id like to say its a mistake and we should let them starve or commit crimes to get food but i dont live there and it isnt my home there going to break into. At least not yet!
guess they could be breaking into your house to get some food or money

   Lloyd;

(2Cor 6:15)

Lloyd;
  You do have some good points there,  They would likely have just gone hungry. I guess the question is that being a world wide church, perhaps they could have fed them on the Mexican side of the border.

    ...But in the long run, the Demonrats would have kept breaking the law, and bringing them in anyway, whether they were fed or not.

  The following, my considered opinion;
     I think we can now see how some huge, undercover force has invaded the seats of power around the world.  Evidently they had little problems, inserting their people in places such as France, Canada and even Australia.

  Due to Brexit, the UK was a bit harder nut to crack.  ..While in the US, they had managed to install Barack Hussein Obama.

  When Americans could see the texture developing, they voted for  Donald Trump, which led to unusual measures by the power brokers. Wild accusations of conspiring with Russia, publication of lie by a willing media...and eventually a rigged election.

  We should not be too surprised to see the same forces invading the largest single body of Christians which is being led/directed by one man.  ..A key target...

   Just as we see those in America today, who cling to doctrinal values and the constitution, while the dividers try to force new, unsavory rules upon us..it seems the RC Church has the same problem.

  To an outsider, just as the OBiden gang brought disruption to America, it looks like this new leader is trying to change centuries of order...into disorder..and it is being felt by the Catholic laity.

   That seems to be the thrust of Archbishop Vigano..check out his video..  More where you find this video.
