Adapters

The old Western Scrounger sells adapters that allow you to shoot a 22 L.R. in a 22 Jet; 22 in a 222 Rem.; 25 ACP in the 25-35; and 32 ACP in a 30-30.  Has anyone used any of these adapters in a contender and if so with what success.

I made one to fit a 223 barrel. Worked great and was extreamly accurate. Really surprised me. Only problem was that  hated to use it. Too much trouble picking the empty out. Bought a good 22 barrel and never got it out again.  KN

Chamber adapters...

E Arthur Brown sells several of the chamber adapters. He sells one to shoot 22LR in .223 or 22-250. Another is for shooting 7.62x39 in a 30-30. The last one is for shooting 308 in a 30-06.
I have one made for shooting 22LR in my .375JDJ. Yes .375. It is a adapter that you put in the chamber with a small barrel tube that extends all the way to the end of the barrel with a hard rubber bushing that keeps it centered. It shoots good but like mentioned before, it's a pain getting the 22LR brass out of it.
Here is the link to the chamber adapters.

Had one that converted a .222 Rem to a .22 WMR.  Accurate when it worked...but made of some light-weight metal which did not hold up very well.  After <20 shells, the rim on the adapter peeled right off.  The adapter also liked to stick in the chamber which made it a pain to eject both the adapter and the spent casings.  I found a site which sold stainless adapters, which would, I assume, hold up better than the one I had.  A nice idea which I have had bad luck with.  I'm with KN...buy the additional barrel and make life a bit easier.
How'd you like a peek at my 14-incher? (Contender, that is)

Have a couple from MCA Sports http://www.mcace.com.  The LR (stainless) in the 223 worked OK for plinking but the 22mg/223 (blued)just would not fly.  As KN said, gets to be old picking out empties.
