Geetar Pickers
« on: November 07, 2021, 03:31:36 AM »
I've been playing guitar since I was about 12, and that is a long time LOL! I started on an old thing with barbwire for strings and a foot above the fret board. It felt that way. My older brother bought me a Fender Strat. and I was in heaven. I got away from the electrics back in the 70's and back to the acoustics. Played Bluegrass for a time (still do), but a few years ago I get the itch to play plugged in again. After trying different style guitars,I discovered the Telecaster is my go to.

Just wondering if any of you folks play electric, and if so, what style guitar do you like?

I "had" an off white Telecaster with a black pick guard. Lost my mind one day and sold it. Went back and tried to buy it back, but they wouldn't sell.
About 11 months ago I sold my Gibson Les Paul. Mistake? Maybe but I miss the Telecaster. Played both through a 1983 Fender red knob twin speakers with a spring reverb. Wish I'd kept that.

Well this is the music place so I will inject this here. Clarence White who was killed in a freak auto accident played a Telecaster B string bender That he and a fellow band member designed and built, you can read the story on YouTube. Marty Stuart has it now and you can see him play it every Saturday evening on his show on RFDTV. It is activated by the shoulder strap when he pushed down a little on the neck of the Guitar, you have to look close to see him doing it and you can change the tone on the string when you move the neck up or down a little. very neat thing indeed but you may already know this. Lots of band members play the Telecaster, The band member in Buck Owens band and best friend who was killed in a motor cycle accident was great on one.

"OUCH! I hear that. IMO, Leo couldn't have come up with a better design, and sound than the Telly. My first was a 58 Strat., Great guitar, but I wish it had been a Tele. I don't own a true Fender Tele now, but have a couple of great playing knockoffs. And a Squire Tele.

Don Rich was good on the Tele. Roy Nichols, Haggards picker was another. So many good ones that preferred telecasters. I think my all time favorite on telecaster was Reggie Young. He played on so many # 1 hits over the years. One he was most famous for was Drift Away (Doby Gray) The riffs he played help make that song.

Right now all I have is an Alvarez  acoustic, and an acoustic amp made by Custom.
