This is something me and Matt have to discuss. Short answer is I don't know. Longer answer is I need to make sure we have some kinda controls and limits in place.

While I have a lot of space now to allow posting of member's photos and the bandwidth to handle it I do need to have some controls here. I can't allow unlimited hosting of member's photos and I must have a way of being sure no porn slips in. I do want to leave this feature in place but only with some controls on the number of photos each member can store here and some way of being sure no inappropriate images are here such as porn.

My day started out rotten.  :rain: I had to get up for work at 2AM. My truck wouldn't start, and it looked like the $647.00 computer went in it.  :jeep:  :biggun: Then I set down to look to see if Greybeard Outdoors was up and running. Low and behold, the new server has got us back up.   My day got better.  :D Then it got light out, so I went to work on the truck and found the power supply wire to the trucks computer was corroded at a connector, and the truck is back to running.  :)  :)  :-D  :)  :-D  :) I tell you, the whole world got brighter once this site was back on line.

Ahh... like 'X' number of pictures per member per month and the pictures will be deleted after they have been posted for 'x' number of days or months maybe?

Could  volunteer moderator(s) be used as censors the to keep any filth off of the site?

I love the spell check by the way.

Well yeah something like that. I guess what I feel we need to do is either limit the number of images any one member can post or limit the amount of space they can use or both. We now have an 80 gig hard drive all to our self but I don't want it 90% full with images either. That could happen really soon if we just turned it loose and fixing it afterward might be a LOT of trouble.

I doubt Moderators would be able to watch for loading of porn images. To watch for those which show up on their forums yes but it is more involved than that. I have to discuss this with Matt to make sure there are adequate admin controls available.

I want to offer it to members but there have to be limits and safe guards in place.

Matt answered most all of my questions/concerns tonight in a phone conversation. There is an Admin section just for the Photo Gallery. We can set up gallaries for individuals or groups or whatever. Moderators can be appointed to over see any given gallery.

I'm not sure but I think it is possible to begin now.

I've limited photo image size to 460 wide same as the rotating banners and 640 long. Matt's not real happy about that limitation but for now that's the way it is. I think we have it set to allow either 25 or 50 images per member at this time.

Bill:

Could you increase the size some? Namely because most of the sites that have hosted our pictures on usually makes them have to be sized 650x400. If you look at the thread on the H&R misc site at the photos under H&R/NEF gallery you'll see what I mean.

This is mine... I tried to load this and it says it's too big...anything smaller will  be difficult to make out any good detail...

Thanks

Matt seems to think I'm holding them too small. BUT that image above is twice as wide as the screen on my computer. To read any of the text I have to scroll side to side back and forth for every line I read. When I run into such a thread I won't read it.

I'll take it under consideration but I just don't agree that a 460 wide image shows no detail. I personally never make an image over 400 pixels wide.

I ain't got clue one. We're gonna hafta wait for Matt to provide some instructions on using this. I don't know if I need to set up some albums or if each registered user can or what.

Generally speaking to use something like this you click in a BROWSE block and find the image on your hard drive and tell it to load or whatever. Next chance I get I'll discuss it with Matt and see if he can explain it so a computer illiterate dummy like me can understand and if not I'll see if I can get him to post some guidance.
