I've always found these comparisons interesting, and disturbing at the same time.
Scripture says no man comes unto the Father except by me (Christ).
John Chapter 14 verse 6

The catholic sees it differently. They pray to a graven image that they call the virgin Mary, and also, to other dead "catholic folks".

To pray to, is to worship, and to give homage to a lesser pagan god.

Also note that the Roman Catholic prays to bones, and human body parts of dead people they consider holy.
These body parts are identified by the Roman Catholic hierarchy as "relics".

Witchcraft, and Voodoo like the Roman Catholic hold these "relics" in high regard in their perspective "worship services", ceremonies, and spells.  :-[

What does God, who admits to being "a jealous God" (Exodus Chapter 34
verse 14) think of the Roman Catholic teaching others, and themselves  practicing a pagan attempt at bypassing Christ?
Exodus Chapter 20 verses 3, 4, and 5

And?  Those of us that aren't religious can say a lot about praying to a possibly non existed deity.  How about you stick to yours, and let others do likewise?

This is why we had the Protestant reformation.  Once the Bible was put into print in the languages of the people, they could see things for themselves if they could read.

that is something only a man secure in his beliefs does. He knows we dont worship mary or anyone but God. Hes just doing it because he thinks it upsets me. Truth be told anyone with a lick of sense knows hes just a sad bitter man and where that whistle comes out of his body. I really dont give a rats ass what he thinks. Honestly im glad hes not a catholic. heck hes not even a christian. Anyone who actually read the bible knows how Jesus says we must act to be considered christian. If anything his attacks on other christians shows him to be if anything an anti christ. People like him will be the reason chirstanity dies in this country and in the world. His bashing of other christians makes him worse then the liberal atheist's. Sad thing for me is he has made me sin because he drug me down in the pit with him.   He is nothing but a sad hateful man that should just be ignored. Maybe someday he will actually read the bible and see that we are all Gods children and theres only two sides in this war and believe one thing. Today we are at war for the survival of Christianity. What side are you on!!!!!

It was not nearly that simple or that fast. Gutenberg’s advancement of printing set the stage for mass printing in the mid 15th century
At that time, though, only one of six people could read..
It was in the 16th century that the Reformation  began in earnest. It was started by clerics and a King... Not by the Common man
Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses in 1517.
John Cslvin and John.Knox preached their differences in the late 1530s.Englands Henry viii established the Anglicsn church at the same time (for reasons that had little to do with the common man)
The KjB appeared in 1611.
The reformation has continued - a proliferation of sects all calling themselves Christian.

Witchcraft and voodoo. Satanism. Graven images.Did someone say cannibalism?

You really don't know what you are talking about if you believe any of that.
If you are going to criticize, at least get your facts right.

LMAO, so you don't believe in God, and you claim not to understand scripture, or believe it, but you've got a handle on this. I swear dg, sometimes your a walking contradiction.

Tell us all what you  know about these opinions given by this website. Have you got data, or is it just your opinion?
What don't you believe, and why?

And wasn't it just yesterday that you said you rarely comment over here on the religious forum 8)?

Dee: I do not remember ever claiming that I did not understand scripture. Believing is something else.
As to that article:
Quote
BTW, the man furnished photographic documentation to what he's saying.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. That article, written by someone who is in need of some basic writing skills, is so full of distortion and misinformation that it beggars the imagination. He sees a cross upside down and it becomes for him proof of Satanism. I do not know why the cross is upside down but I am not about to jump to the conclusion that the Devil did it when there are other explanations.
His take on images and statues is a classic misunderstanding. If there is statue, it must be an idol. If people are kneeling before it, they must be worshipping the idol. WRONG on both counts. I will leave it to you to discover what they are doing. You were quick enough to link up that sick mass of hatred, maybe you will take a moment to see what the reality is.
The man has taken bits of this and that from different cultures, from Roman rite and Byzantine rite churches and tossed them together with no understanding of what produced them.
It is not my intention to defend the practices of the Catholic Church……I do not believe them either…..but it is difficult to sit by and see someone present distorted ideas arbitrarily cobbled together with no purpose other than to feed some painful sorry need.
The same eye used by the Illuminati….he calls it the eye of Lucifer. The reality is that it is an old symbol, properly known as the Eye of Providence…..it appears on the Great Seal of the United States. Got a dollar bill in your pocket? It is on there too.

Then I stand corrected on your not "understanding" scripture.

You take exception to the man's opinions,  but offer no rebuttal.
Only opinion.

I'm sure he, along with millions of others, place equal value in your "opinion", as you do theirs.
Because that's all you offered.

You don't believe the Bible, you don't believe in God, and you don't believe this guy either.

So, as I've said many times in our past discussions concerning Christianity; you are your own god within yourself.

Or as the Bible would identify you as; "a natural man" (1st Corinthians Chapter 2 verse 14).

So I suppose its safe to say, this information from either direction, isn't for you as you have no platform from which to jump, other than your own disbelief. ;)

Dee: I am not sure what rebuttal would be appropriate. I referred you to the classic understanding of the eye of providence. I hoped that you would find for yourself what the use of statues is…..They are not being worshipped. There is a great deal of veneration of the dead and the collecting of bones in ancient ossiaries. His judgement…..with no proof is that the function is Satanic…..he pulls that out of a hat. (You do not question any of his summary judgements….why not? You surely question mine)
That whole business about the hall of the pope being built like a snake. HE sees that. No one else does. His comment does not mean that it is true.
I have always found the veneration of relics problematic as did the critics of the church at the time of the reformation.
He supplies a number of pictures while accusing the RCC of sodomy, etc. How many of those pictures are real? How many are actually nuns and priests? Did you check on their provenance or just accept them?

Actually dg, I don't question your beliefs, or lack thereof.
I feel like I gave you the truth in discussions past, so any consequences concerning your lack of belief are on you.
I see what I see, and hear what I hear, and determine the meaning of it based on evidence, not perspective.
Word games are a genuine waste of time.
If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck , then I'll bet it swims like one to.

This type of thread is gonna be liked by some, hated by some, enlightening to some, doubted by some, and like those "closet Trump supporters" read agreed with, but never openly supported because their like the coyote that avoids confrontation.

None of these matter to me. Im actually
indifferent to it. I have opinions, and although accused by some, this sort of thread hasn't been around for quite some time.
But! My attitude is: if someone is gonna accuse me of something, then let's take a look at what I'm supposed to be guilty of. That's what we're doin here. I don't really care if anyone agrees, or disagrees. I'm not even saying I'm 100% on board with these links.;)

Is that biblical because that is what this discussion concerns.

Actually he just posted someone else’s (opinion) and left judgement up to the reader.

Sure looked like a snake to me. No judgement though.

Did you check on their provenance or just question them?

I did watch a documentary many years back on HBO about gay priests and I’m pretty sure there was a bit of sodomy involved...

Personally I care very little but what the heck. Felt like joining in and put down my popcorn and peanuts.

Provenance, I love those seldom used words I have to look up to make sure I'm remembering right.
The author of the website I posted is repeating/reporting facts that have been known for decades, until political correctness pressured Google and others to sensor them.

Alas. i had thought this discussion had come to an end. Your reference to the author of the article linked as “reporting facts that have been known for decades” demands a response. “Facts” ???? What facts are those? Very little that that writer says is factual.
For instance,
Quote
They are homes for every unclean spirit and dwellings for demons. They are not diffrent with witches who uses curved images to pray, they also uses curved images and idols claiming its Jesus which is idol gods. Everyone have their image and curved Jesus hanging on neck, and you wonder how many Jesus do they have? Everyone have their image and curved Jesus with them and praying with those cross. That is worshiping the devil in the name of curved wood  in the form of Jesus

Not a fact in there.
His take on the structure of Pier Luigi Nervi’s Aula Paolo VI is likewise short on facts. His imposition of photos of snakes does not make his accusations factual.
There is no defending the problems that the RCC has yet to deal with regarding predatory sex and sodomy….to accuse all of their clergy is excessive. The photos….are they real? I cannot imagine real nuns posing for those pictures nor real priests posing as depicted.
The baptizing of infants as opposed to the full immersion of adults is an odd practice. Is it wrong? That one I cannot comment on.
Gonna stop now….tired of this. Upset that someone with your intelligence can read that drivel and see it fit enough to post a link.
Stiil….hope your holy days are warm and fulfilling.
Pete

LOL, I don't think I've actually read anywhere near all of this one dg.
I did glance through part of it to make sure it wasnt anti Christian, but as to studying it for mistakes. Nope.

Besides, concerning ANY controversial topic of discussion, when was the last time you agreed with everything said by the author?

But seriously dg. Do you not think it a bit bizarre that the Roman Catholics think it normal to display human bodies, along with internal body parts, and appendages in some of their sanctuaries?

Here a few examples of catholic relics all documented and labeled by location.

A practice very similar to Voodoo.  ;)

The RCC even claims to have christs' dirty diapers and foreskin.

Really?

The relic thing is certainly a grotesque practice. I agree. Does it translate to Satanism? No, it does not. People’s faith may lead some of them down strange paths.
The diaper thing is interesting, especially since diapers were not used during the first century. So….whatever is on display in Dubrovnik and Aachen, they aint Christ’s diapers. So where and how does that weirdness add up to Satanism?

Maybe you need to compare what is revered in Voodoo and compare what is revered in Catholicism with a more open mind. There are obvious similarities. Witchcraft refers to them as charms, Catholicism refers to them as relics.
Defense of one side or the other blocks perception.
I'm not trying to convince you, but you seem interested.
Is your interest in the two, or the defense of one?

seriously dg. Do you not think it a bit bizarre that the Roman Catholics think it normal to display human bodies, along with internal body parts, and appendages in some of their sanctuaries?

I have always thought the practice was grotesque. Remember, I am not defending the RCC. I am criticizing the jump to Satanism. Yes, the practice is bizarre; that does not translate to devil worship. Strong faith may lead folks into strange customs.
The diaper scam.....diapers did not exist during the first century. Whatever is on display in Dubrovnik and Aachen, it did not belong to Christ. Some people will believe anything and other people are quite willing to take advantage of that.
