Guilty or not? What say you? While it is early, and we don't have a great deal of information..how do you view this right now?

Let's see. Parents buy 15 year old kid a brand new Sig 9mm with no training, or restrictions. Check!

Teachers smell a rat, take kid to principals office, back pack and all. Check!

Teachers call parents to school, and have them sniff the rat. Check!

Parents can't smell the rat. Check!

Teachers insist there's a rat somewhere, and want the smell taken home. Check!

Parents say, tolerate the smell and refuse. Check!

Teachers agree, and send smelly 15 year old back to class. Check!

NOBODY, I MEAN NOBODY, is smart enough to look in the little bastards' backpack while they have him in the office.
So he shoots up the place.

The parents are idiots, and should be charged for facilitating this little weirdos fantasy. And the teachers should be fired, and possibly prosecuted for negligence.

Not only are the parents responsible the school admins who made the decision to return him to class instead of sending him home have culpability as well.

Looks like many at fault, starting especially with the parents ! Don't know if they thought their " little darling"
wasn't capable of such a thing, or if they are on something!

Maybe they both have some "Biden blockage" !

They used to have programs in place
at schools here to take kids out of
regular classes if they couldn't cut
the mustard.
There were counselors that extensively
interviewed the kid to find out if there
was trouble at home, checked to see
if there was any kind of abuse going on,
or maybe the kid was just a slow learner
or had some kind of mental issue, etc.
But the class progress wasn't interrupted
for one bump in the road, and the
gifted were allowed to advance at the
rate they could absorb and retain the
learning. All the other specialized
teachers and counselors and such
concentrated on helping the problem
student while the others clicked along.

These days, we can't hurt feelings or
make anyone feel "inadequate "

JMHO- it's the parents more often
than not that get all butthurt about
their kid's inadequacy

We will have to wait for the court to figure it out. I don't believe anything out of the media after the Rittenhouse fiasco.

It's the same setup also where it's the states attorney (a political position) making the charges against the parents on their own and not through a law enforcement agency. Parents say they had the gun locked in their bedroom, states attorney says they just gave it to him. Attorney says they were working with the states attorney for the parents to turn themselves in when the charges were filed, which is a very common practice. I thought it was very telling that the states attorney was trying to make it into a media spectacle when they announced charges live on tv before giving the Sheriffs Dept a heads up. When interviewed the undersheriff had to tiptoe around the question if that was unusual. It makes me wonder if the states attorney purposefully didn't contact the parents attorney because announcing it live on tv knowing the parents were not staying at their home due to death threats would make it seem like they were running because they were guilty in an effort to shape a narrative. The parents clearly didn't do themselves any favors once they found out about the charges by not just calling 911 and turning themselves in. It's shaping up to be a ehh "show" just like the Rittenhouse trial.

You have a point concerning the prosecutor jumping the sheriffs' office announcing charges filed "pre investigation" I missed that when she got on TV and gave a press conference.
I "assumed" she had evidence concerning the parents, but a short statement from the sheriff's office said otherwise.

They may not be at all what it seems concerning the parents.

True that! Its easy to make assumptions based on what we hear from the media anymore, since they only tell us what they want us to hear. If there is a way to report it to try and further their anti gun position, you can bet they will do it, and have no trouble lying to do it.

My daughter learned early to shoot a rifle and handgun.
but, all the guns in this house stayed locked up except my carry gun, and the safe keys stayed in my pocket 24/7/365 unless we were going to the range.

At the very least they are guilty of gross negligence.

My Grandfather carried his squirrel rifle to school like most of the other boys. I resent the thoughts that I should be more afraid of my son or daughter than a criminal kicking in my door and have to lock up my shotgun or be negligent.

When I turned 16 and Started Driving to High School...There was a Rifle and a Shotgun in the Back window of My Truck, Every Day....
Every Other Pickup in the School Parking Lot did Also....

Not in my house. I made my living with guns, and I never locked one up. My kids knew what to touch, and what to leave alone.

They knew if they wanted to look at something, all they had to do was ask. Now, much of what was laying on tables, or leaned up in corners, they own.

I ask my children if they want to handle or shoot any guns and tell them I’ll gladly comply in children’s terms. I just want to supervise. My son has quite a few knives and cuts himself much less than I do. Have a fresh one from field stripping 2 deer. Did not even know I cut myself until the day after... which was today.

Yep that was how it was in our home also. Learned how to handle guns safely at a young age, and until I was 12 or so I wasn't allowed to take a gun outside without dad coming along. Yes how different today world is, and it changed in just a short time.

When I was growing up our guns were in a closet and after marriage mine were too until my daughter that lived just a little south of me was robbed, a time frame of about 60 years. I bought a safe and locked all mine up on the assumption it would be much harder to move a big, heavy safe full of guns than just taking them out of a closet. Both of us also got alarm systems also on the assumption the SO would make it to the house before anyone could manage to move something that heavy outside. All any of the kids thru great grand kids have to do is ask to see or shoot any of them.

I went to the gun safe route about 25 years ago. Thieves are in abundance now.
My nightstand sports a magnum and a good flashlight. Next to that leaned in the corner is a rifle sporting a 20 round mag, and a forearm mounted tac lite.

When I travel, so do they. Everything else is locked up.

and having to search them out and
forcibly bring them back.
There's no telling what the truth is

I started my sons early on proper gun handling and hunting. I followed through, getting each of my grandsons their first rifle. In each case, it was a bolt action .22 and I kept the magazine..even after they started hunting on their own. When i decided they knew how to make every shot count, they got the magazine

Back about 2006, I was working in my smithy, with the radio tuned to a local talk show. The question of the day
was... "Do you let your children play with toy guns"?
After hearing several soft hearts (or soft heads), whine about kids and guns..i just had to respond.

I began like the rest..saying i didn't encourage them (including grandkids) play with toy guns.. Instead I started them out with proper training..starting with "don't point at anything you don't intend to kill".

Then I went on to teach them proper marksmanship..in fact, at that very time my oldest grandson was serving with the Marines in Iraq.. often as a designated "overwatch"..

I concluded.. "just ask me if I am now happy that I taught him to shoot accurately"?

When my boys turned about 6 years old, I let them go to certain classes with me that I would be teaching.
During breaks, they would police up brass, and run targets to officers.
All the officers knew them, and would pick at'em, but help'em at the same time.
If they done well, after classes had left, i would let them shoot.
They grew up around first class weaponry, and I taught them the right way to get the most out of that particular weapon.
The oldest boy wasn't into that sort of training so much, but was good at it.
He now hunts with an AR, after staying away from'em for decades.
The youngest went into Special Forces, done very well, and is almost always in the top 10 of the "run and gun matches" he enters.
It's all in a kids environment growing up.
