  Personally, I like the bond movies, but I'm not happy with them having killed Bond off, in this last movie.

   About the only connection I can claim to anything James Bond..is one day when I was driving an Army sedan on
   the Frankfort/Darnstatt Autobahn. 
    I caught sight of headlights flashing about half mile to my rear ,which means "fast car coming".. (no speed limit).

  It was only seconds, when that Aston~Martin DB4 "James Bond car", passed me at such a speed that I really had to wrench that sedan around a bit, just to keep the slow lane.

  We (Army) were limited to 80K..about  53 mph..

Nancy and I were tooling along north out of Frankfurt about 80mph and came up behind a big truck so I looked in the mirror and could see a tiny speck so I pulled out to pass and suddenly the speck was a large black sedan right on my back bumper.
I floored that little Opel to get out of his way.:)

The next day I stopped to get gas in Rotterdam ($4.50 per liter in 1987) and raised the hood to check the oil and that engine looked small enough to put in my pocket.

  Know what you mean Bugeye.  That inside lane othe autobahn seems to be the property of the Mercedes, Porsches and BMWs...along with an occasional Ferrari or Lamborghini !  ;D

   They don't have many accidents with those "super cars", but when they do, it is usually spread over a quarter mile..

Interesting. I don't drive fast anyway, so I would try to avoid that highway the best I could. If at all possible. Ive never been to Germany so I don't know. I was stationed in the UK for one year while I was in the Air Force.

   Just the man I want to ask a question of...  The closest I have ever come to visiting the UK..was sailing  past the  White Cliffs.... at Dover.  Matter of fact, we stopped for a while, to pick up a pilot at Dover..

  Question;  In movies or videos of the UK, I noticed certain differences in the highway paint stripes..

     What in the world do those zig zag stripes mean to the motorist?

They are no parking no passing zones.Used mostly for pedestrians and children crossing the road, as a heads up for the traffic.
