..Went on a photo shoot with my son yesterday..
« on: December 16, 2021, 02:10:07 PM »
.
Went down into Pennsylvania a little way.  We did a shoot for Air B&B..an old farmhouse beautifully redone for a by-the-week vacation spot..this is one back away from it all, for folks who want seclusion.
The surprise..bought and remodeled by an Amish family.  NO, it is not primitive, but has every modern feature.  The Dad and two boys..maybe 20 & 15 were there working when we arrived.
They seemed to enjoy the luxury.  During the shoot, work ceased..the Dad & older son were busy with their laptop and I-pad, while the younger boy was absorbed with clicking through the TV..

Anyway, here is a twilight shot from the pond side of the house...taken by a drone.

That's perfect.  A few groceries and a fishin pole and some night crawlers.

Yes; i can see whole families spending a week or two there..away from any hustle and bustle..  Actually, it was an overcast, gray day..but no clue here, after some skilled photographer "magic".  The sky was added in the studio..from an exposure he did not far from home..but up on a lonely hill with no interfering lights for miles.  The Milky way does add some beauty.

When he posted it on his FB page..right away, another real estate agent asked for a shoot next week.

the subject house was in the neighborhood of Port Allegany, PA.

Impressive house once owned (but no longer) by a family who owned a cable TV net.  Also not too far south into Pennsylvania..taken about 4 years ago.   Sky features added later.

That home reminds me of a home in the town of Jim Thorpe Pa.

Thanks for the pictures of places I will never see. I could make it about a week at either I imagine. Then the mountain at the first and the trees at the second would be bugging me no end. As a plains dweller I need to be able to see--way over yonder---or I get to feeling hemmed in.

Not in Jim Thorpe, but there are a number of impressive homes in Jim Thorpe.  I always got a charge out of
how folks there changed the name of their town to....JIM THORPE !
Not too hard to figure out why...   Who would remember a Town named MAUNCH CHUNK ?

Actually, Jim Thorpe is buried there...

It is imteresting..how when one is "born to the plains", they will miss them if they happen to be anywhere else..

...And conversely, someone like myself "born to the hills", can gain the same mood if set down on level land...

Yep that is correct. Who could even remember the name Maunch Chunk even after being there. I got the pleasure of visiting JimThrope this summer while doing a bike ride on the D&L bike trail that runs along the Lehigh river. Jim Thrope sure is a unique town, and I visited the Jim Thrope memorial where he was buried.

Yes, the Poconos is a special place..and Jim Torpe is a quaint and picturesque town in places..reminding one of the Norman Rockwell paintings.

Or even a Paul Detlefsen painting..such as "Happy Days"..
