overall it seems highly feasible that a creative evolution could happen on Mars with introduction of lichens, algae, bacteria, mosses, etc. which might start a carbon cycle, oxygen cycle, CO2 cycle, nitrogen cycle; and darken the planet and warm it.
Evidently not. The very real problem is lack of enough gravity to hold on to an atmosphere. Mars has only a fraction of Earth’s mass…..less than 40%. In simple terms it could hold only 40% of what Earth has. In the past, Mars evidently had liquid water….lakes and rivers. Where did it go? It leaked into space. In the past Mars had a molten core like the Earth. This core, spinning the Earth makes our planet a dynamo producing the magnetic field which surrounds us and protects our atmosphere from deterioration caused by radiation from the Sun. Mars no longer has this.

How could anyone possibly know, any of what your saying about Mars, is true?

He is right. From what we do know, but that could be flawed also. All we have up there are machines. And those are already an obsolete technology.

Same question. How do you know he's right. Everything he says could not possibly be known.
"Theory" is another word for "speculation", which is another way of saying "maybe ", which is another way of saying: I'm just making this crap up.
I think one has to be fascinated with "science fiction" (emphasis  on fiction) to swallow any of this.

There was certainly a lot of things that had to be just right for earth to sustain life.  Its only by intelligent design that we are here.  If God had intended for life to be on Mars it would not be where it is.

Do you really think that I made all of that up? Do you really think that all that I reported is merely speculation, without basis?

Do you really think that I believe that I could hoodwink you with a load of unfounded B.S.?
I have more respect for you than that.
“Everything he says could not possibly be known.” You need to get out more. You need to do some research before you write things like that.
How is the data that I reported acquired? There have been, to date, 26 successful missions to Mars (50 were launched) sent to acquire data. Of the 26, 16 involved landers on the surface. Each of these was packed with instrumentation to measure things like soil composition and to search for organic compounds. Orbiters like the Exomars gas trace orbiter look over larger swatches of terrain. In the case of the gas trace orbiter, the goal is to search for indicators of biological and geological processes by looking for gases produced by those processes. Gas trace analysis has proven reliable and accurate on Earth.
Other deductions are based on photos taken from orbit which indicate the possibility of , for instance, liquid water. These photos are compared to photos of Earth conditions. (What does a dry river bed look like?) Note: what I have just written is accurate enough but is an oversimplification of the projects and data and technology that produced the info.
Theory…….you use the word as if a theory represents a quess, a maybe. The proper word for that is hypothesis. A theory, in fact, is not a guess, a maybe; it is not speculation. A proper theory is an explanation of why and how something happens. A proper theory has been tested and proven to be reproducible, predictive and correct.

Dg, I don't believe any it. But it is obvious that you do.
I really don't think you could construct an explanation I would accept.
I'm gonna extricate myself from the discussion.
I don't have anything to add but doubt.

Either way, any "physical evidence" these unmanned probes have collected I "might" believe, but the rest I see as BS.
As far as "denial" there is nuthin to deny.

Merry Christmas

True, we don't know for sure. All we have there are probes, rovers and a few satellites. Nothing through a true human experience. Oh we know a little bit, but not as much as we think we do.

I think it is very possible that billions of years ago mars had a thriving planet not so dissimilar to earths. Unfortunately, unless there is some subterraneous proof that we can find it is all speculation.

Recently I heard a report about Mars that the average temperature there is 80 degrees below zero.  Why not just go live in Antarctica?  If there is life on some planets somewhere in some galaxy, no one from this planet will ever see it.  We should concentrate on what can be done to preserve what we already have.
