Home made Black powder lube/ Christmas Brisket

We are doing early Christmas for half the tribe.  Going to smoke a whole brisket. 14 pounds before trim. Up at 5 am to trim and rub.  I have a couple pounds of fat cap to render down for lube. Pics to come.  The dog got all the blood that drained out of the bag. Thin flaps of meat will go in chilly.  --I know lamb is best but this will work fine. Gatofeo's #1

Said there would be pics. Brisket and what two of the boys got from grandpa  ;D. They live in the big woods.

Looks good!  What is the green goo?

And love the dino Christmas sweaters!

Good idea on making BP lube from fat cap.  I have a bear tag this fall and will be rendering a bunch of fat down for such things...

I get the little one for the weekend. Just us 2.  To the range. 1853 Enfield, 1884 Trap door 45/70 original  (reduced BP loads)  and more 22 than I can count.

The tall one just won the shooting match at Trail Life camp.   BB gun 3 rounds standing. He got a bulls eye. All three in the same hole. Clover leaf! Little one put all three in the 9 ring. 20 kids he was #3.  Dads and kids asking them how you do that!?   They shoot muskets and stuff with Grandpa.   Trail Life is like Scouts with out the  P.C.  bull ****.  (thinking of sending my Eagle back)

  Looks like a couple happy boys, with their new "hawks" !  I see Gramp was smart enough to get a slightly different one for either boy, no argument if one gets lost or damaged.

   Trail Life Camp...congrats..no BSA where they may have to celebrate "pride", or some other stupid thing.

    A solid, Christian camp...

One hawk has the sheath on. They marked the end of the handle with the wood burning kit.
