Alcohol sales
« on: December 25, 2021, 03:59:02 AM »
No sales on Christmas Day, then Sunday right after that. The winos are going to go crazy lol. Bootleggers are going to make a lot of money. I wonder about the weed head shops, are they included in this?

Weed heads they never cease to amaze me. If they even know what day it is. I guess they understand Biden talk.
And if they are drunk they know how to talk Biden also. Uhh, where am I? Who am I?

I just found out a few days ago. What Let’s go Brandon really means. At first I didn’t know why a NASCAR driver was so popular. Now I’ve got it, finally. I need a smaller rock to crawl under.

That’s ok. Someone brought up the pee files and I was clueless. We can’t know everything going on. And. Who would want too?

This is funny since I was just now
thinking of this situation.
I know of more and more people that
can't seem to make a move without
a beer in hand.   Literally
I was thinking of the last few times
I had went hunting as part of a group,
and how we had to stop a half a dozen
times at different stores to stock up
on various beers and alcohol.
Couldn't buy at one place.  So-and-so
down the road has this or that for
$4.00 less, so let's stop there too.
Then everything has to get iced
down and re-secured.
Needless to say, I don't go hunting
or the like as part of a group any
longer.  I like to spend my time
hunting or fishing or whatever, and
if I wanted to guzzle beer I'd
stay at home and skip the expense
of licenses and travel and stay
where I'd be safe and not be bothered.

I am a solitary hunter. Butt have been a loner my whole life. When hunting in a group I consider it to be social hour and do not take it seriously. I have my beer at night butt never whilst hunting... Group hunting is rare for me and only partake when not concerned about filling my freezer.

Yeah.  Used to be the universal rule was
no booze with guns. But these days it
seems that it's ok with a good many people
to guzzle beer while shooting or hunting.
I'm not going to say I've never had a
drink,  but IMO if I'm going to have a drink
I won't be driving around or handing guns
or out where I might drown or otherwise
hurt myself or somebody

Three beers and I’m staggering. That’s a bad way to feel, and a dangerous one at that. I know guys who get snot slinging drunk on beer. Then the next day they can’t explain the holes in the wall. They can’t remember.

I watched a “varmint hunter” in the farmers fields across from me shoot ground hogs day after day. So out of curiosity I went lookin around. No blood. No dead whistle pigs, so I set my telescope on him and watched as he was resighting his rifle. Hmmm. He’s been shooting for a week and he is adjusting his scope settings. That’s when I saw him take a smoke break in between adjustments on his scope. Don’t know what was in his pipe butt it sure did not help his accuracy any. Quit lookin after I saw the problem.

Mule I bet it wasn't tobacco he was smoking.  If he had to stop and take a toke each time. Weed head hunters
aren't known for their accuracy, or for being safe with a firearm. I worked with a kid who shot and killed himself with a Glock messing around like that.

Well, here in Georgia you can buy alcohol on CHRISTmas day, I know because on the way to some inlaws for dinner i stopped and bought a 6 pack of Miller light.
I have to drink a beer or glass of wine while I eat to keep from slinging food all over the table, and my wife has to cut my ham and turkey for me.

Something that seems to becoming ever so popular here is Pa. is the Marijuana access card.  I know that you give up your right to buy a firearm when you get one,  I even thought that you are not allowed to own a firearm when you possess this card. I had someone tell me that you just can't buy a firearm, but are allowed to keep what you have. I kind of argued with them, because I didn't think that was the case.  Do any of you know what the law is on keeping firearms if you obtain an access card for buying weed?

Here ya go:

Although, Pennsylvania statute allows for a citizen of the Commonwealth to hold a validly issued Medical Marijuana Card, possess approved forms of medical marijuana and have a valid license to carry firearms, it is illegal under federal law.  The United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) holds that the possession of medical marijuana is a violation of federal law.  Moreover, the mere possession of a valid Medical Marijuana Card and/or the use of medical marijuana, makes a citizen an “unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance.”  18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(3).

Marijuana is listed in the Controlled Substances Act as a Schedule I controlled substance, and there are no concessions in federal law for marijuana supposedly used for medicinal purposes, even if such use is authorized by State law.  Thus, a person possessing a Medical Marijuana Card, is prohibited by federal law from the purchase or acquisition, possession, or control of a firearm.  27 C.F.R. § 478.32(a)(3).

The Pennsylvania State Police noted in an official statement that they defer to federal law when it comes to firearms and marijuana possession.

I. Against much opinion. Defer to the 2nd Amendment. The Right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed upon.

I am not defending the stance of the PA State police. I suspect, though, that the “right to bear arms shall not be infringed upon” applies to people who have not broken the law.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held that if you have a medical marijuana card you can be prevented from buying a gun. In 2016, the court held this ban on gun ownership did not violate the Second Amendment since federal law prohibits gun purchases by an "unlawful user and/or an addict of any controlled substance."
Anyone in PA who has an access card had better be darn careful about their firearms use. If I were to get caught in PA with a joint in my possession and a gun in my car or on my person, I am in violation of both PA state law and the federal controlled substances act. I would be f***ed.
Maybe my situation would be different in another jurisdiction but not here in PA.
And maybe not anywhere else:

Kind of what I thought. Ill have to inform the person I was talking to about that, they are wrong.

Lots of laws anymore that keep people from owning firearms. Many crimes, drug use, I think even domestic violence. A buddy of mine was going through a divorce, his wife claimed he was a threat to her because of all the guns he owned. The sheriff came and took all his guns. He eventually got them back.

I did not see those regulations or ordinances in the bill of rights. Yet. We all know the law is what the officer with the gun in your ear says it is.

I have a prescription for gabapentin, tramadol, and codeine and I can buy and carry guns.
All illegal without that prescription.   So what is different about a prescription for MJ??
Makes no sense.

JMHO-  doesn't bother me in the
least if somebody wants to get
drunk or toast their own brains
with dope.  All I've ever asked is
for those indulging to do it in the
privacy of your own home, and
not do harm to anybody else or
their property, and to take care of
your financial and other obligations
before you purchase alcohol or drugs.
No alcohol or drugs should be purchased
with public funds
