Barbara Ann and the Duke of Earl are the first two I remember really liking; before that there were one or two country/western songs that struck my fancy but after the first two mentioned rock & roll was what I preferred.
At least up here, a top 40 station had BROAD spectrum of music styles they played, and there was no straight talk radio, all stations played some music.
After the mid-nineties I pretty much stopped listening, to new rock & roll but in the aughts there was some good new stuff but I did not really hear the songs or know the bands names till years after they were first run.
I generally listen to classical music on radio most often but I have, quite surpisingly, found that, that, is subject to the same , over and over and over till you are tired of it that cursed rock 7 roll.
Not sure what category it fits, but I will never hear Rhapsody in Blue, too often.
