Biden says he will fight the "meat giants"..

Yep! Biden to combat the meat giants !  That sounds like a lot of baloney to me !

Sure, meat has gone up, but not noticeably more than gasoline, groceries, dining checks, heating fuel, electric bills, and even new pickup trucks...if you can find one..

All thanks goes to the biden bunch !  How, of all the dramatic price rises since he was 'elected', did he happen to pick on the meat industry to pick upon?

I don't expect Biden to fix anything, but 2 meat packing companies DO control the meat production, and pricing.
A group of cattle men in Nebraska have gotten together and are building their own plant.
If successful, it'll make it better for everybody.

I do think there is a lot of price gouging in meats. Last May in my area hamburger was around 6-7 dollars a pound, steaks from 10-16 dollars a pound. At that same time we bought a half of beef from a local farmer and had a small local shop process it. Our total cost was $3.20 per pound. I realize that there are additional costs by the time the meat is in the store, but that much difference?

I've also heard the cattlemen in Texas and Oklahoma are going to try to get a packing plant going.  Their on the hoof prices haven't changed much since 2017, but the meat prices at grocers is sky high.  One of the largest meat packers was bought out by China.  Monopolies cause price increases.  More packing plants = lower prices.

Quite true.  The open market still SETS PRICES.  Why do US oil companies export record amounts of oil and gasoline??  Because they get a better price overseas!!!!  A year or so ago we, THE USA, was the #1 exporter of Oil and gasoline in THE WORLD!!!!  OIL Companies still control the price of gasoline (despite what you want to believe) and we subsidize them to do it with taxpayer money!!!

Some local cattlemen  here will let you pick out  and buy the calf on the hoof ,and butcher it for you .  Good for those with a big family and a freezer .

Monopolies, in many industries, are once again the same problem of greed they were when trust busters cleaned house near a hundred years ago.

Republicans are doing not one damn thing about it.
