I am with Lloyd. I have absolutely no interest in anything build by Ford. Been burned twice, ain't happnin' again.

   Among my circle of acquaintances..some have been burned by GM, some by Ford and some by Chrysler.
  ..Doesn't seem to make a difference..apparently just "the luck of the draw"!

  One thing that does seem to work..  Forget brands.. Some companies are offering very long and generous warrantees.
   While some corps trust their products for say 36,000 bumper to bumper and perhaps 60,000 for drive train only..others trust their workmanship for 60,000 bumper to bumper, and 100,000 for drive train.  Has to tell us something..

  That alone should speak to us !

  Then there is the old, "too many moving parts"...syndrome..  I noticed while living in Europe, that some very prestiegous brands with great technical ability, seemed to have more than their share of breakdowns.

   Problem was "over engineering"...  In order to make things work impressively..they added more complex systems, with many more parts.  Sometimes I think their engineers were just 'showing off' !
   
  Therefore it would seem to make sense, that the less crap one opts for in their vehicle ..the less chances to go wrong.. 

KISS...Keep It Simple, Stupid !

   e.g. ..So that new feature that allows your car to park itself goes haywire..screwing up other systems..

     If you didn't have that device in your car in the first place..it would never give you trouble...
 
  Obviously, that goes for any unnecessary accessories..

And they are making the dashboards look like something in a spaceship. It’s like in the 1950s where cars were looking like a fighter jet. Whatever is popular at the time i guess.

The worst new vehicle lemon i ever had was a Toyota Land Cruiser. Before its first oil change it started burning oil.
The dealership put in a new engine and it threw a rod 20 miles later. I got rid of it for a Jeep. They said the rods were not torqued correctly.

  Isn't it interesting how some words hang on!  I'm speaking of the use of "dashboard" above, a term I often catch myself using.  It comes from the old horse-and-sleigh days..when there was a curved apron up front of the sleigh, which was meant to "dash" the snow away from flowing in on the riders' feet & legs. 
  We have the term "instrument panel", but I for one don't always use it.

  Keep in mind the old sleigh ride song which says.."dashing through the snow" ..

    Then of course the original 1903 "curved dash" Oldsmobile...the curved dash taken directly from it's horse drawn predecessors.  Others had the dash board, but Olds had a curved one !  Probably attracted attention, much as certain curves do today.. ;)  ;D

   BTW..not Dee..but Ironglow.. ;)   Actually by force of habit, i understand that some of the early "horseless carriages" still came equipped with a whip socket, where the horse 'attention getter' would be stashed.

   Hey!  Some folks... and horses had to be "broke in" real gently...

never been burned by one oldandslow because i never bought one. Back when i was into muscle cars you either went fast reliably in a gm or you went fast with problems i a chrysler product or you just went slow in a ford. When i was in my mid 20s and into 4x4s an off roading nobody wanted 4x4 ford because that crappy independent front suspenion would keep wheels on the ground. All you got was wheel hop. Then it was about 4 times more expensive to lift them.  Then between 1955 and right on through to fuel injection days ford had nothing that competed small block chev. 302 wasnt a bad motorb and the 300 six was a good one but it wasnt a small block chev either. Big block comparison between the two was just as one sided. Fords when we were younger were cars and trucks for our grandpas.
