Truck stop buffets.

Use the truck stop buffet, sometimes good other times not so good. Catch them on a Tuesday it’s fresh. A girl there told me its leftovers after that. And it sure does look like it.

Up here in the Northland, in the eighties if you threw a baseball sized rock hard, you would probably hit one; now they are few and far  between.
the China  Virus killed a lot but they were disappearing before that.
With rare exceptions the only ones fairly common are Chinese ones; What was considered the best general buffet in Central Minnesota, by listeners of WCCO radio which is based 70 miles away closed last year.

There is still a decent number of truck stops in Minnesota but unless you take the freeway, they are getting hard to find.
Two that used to be on Mn Highway 7, are long gone, and when I was younger we stopped at both often.
There is one down by Faribault , MN that is an excellent one, not sure if buffet is still there.

Good food buffets are at the casinos now.  Or they were before covid.

The TA at least used to have an awesome buffet. It is located just south of I90 on I35 in Albert Lew MN.

AH, Phalanx hit the nail squarely on the head.
Most are now gone; the few that are still around are only on certain day and have short hours.
My cousin went to the Casino Breakfast Buffet Sunday morning (Technically to the Casino --  Valentines Day Buffet -- two days early) in Granite Falls, Mn.
22 dollars, after tax.
Evn with the prime rib, he said it was not any thing special, with no one carving food as they used to do, it all was pre-cut in a pan of juice.

Last year we went to a Easter Sunday buffet at a foo-foo restaurant, (which if you did not look online, you would not find it or even know it existed) very, very good food , including a free glass of wine, for only ten bucks more.

The inn of the mountain gods casino in Ruidoso has a real good buffet. That big fire didn't get as far as the casino. Or the race track. A part of downtown , a very small part of the village and private cabins on the outskirts were hit.It’s been pretty well cleaned up now. Those rich Indians sure ain't gonna let that get them down. Firefighters came in from all around.
