I have zero love for canned tomato soup but I have/do eat it.
Not bad with buttered toast and crackers.

I keep cans years, a LOT , past use by date; my one cousin is a paranoid - use by - dork.

Tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwich..a staple..

Your tuna salad sandwich sounds good..a lot of ingredients, but still sounds good..

History note..  Sandwich got it's name from Lord Sandwich.  Lord Sandwich..(served UK, during our Rev War era, and in fact, sometimes favored us in Parliament)..bt I digress..
Lord Sandwich loved playing at cards, and didn't even want to take time out for lunch, when heavily  involved.  So, he told his servants to slip some roast beef between 2 slices of bread. and serve him that way.
When Captain Cook "discovered" some islands, he named them the Sandwich Islands, in the Earl's honor..  They are now called the Hawaiian Islands..
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

I love me a heath bar blizzard but thankfully the dq in our town closes for the winter or id be another 30lbs heavier. But in the summer my wife brings me home a blizzard every friday night or she probably wouldnt be let in the house.

My nearest is about 60 miles away over in Texas. I seldom need to be in that town so get little calories from Dairy Queen.

Well today it was fried catfish, hushpuppies and coleslaw. For me washed down with milk. All of my life I've been told drinking milk with fish or shrimp will kill ya. All my life I've been doing it and guess what, it hasn't killed me yet.

Best thing is I fried up enough to have again tomorrow and there was plenty of left over coleslaw too. Gonna eat good again tomorrow.
My wife was a gullible teenager when we married and she had heard that milk and fish gave you worms..
But, we both love catfish, hush puppies and cole slaw, and I have drank milk with it.

I had it one time in north Ga.  it’s as good as bluegill filets, and that’s good.

There's a lake about 14 miles from here with walleye. They say they're better than crappie.

But I'd still rather have catfish.  :)

walleye is ok if there small. Kind of tastes like perch. I prefer whitefish and especially pike if its caught in cold water. Pike and walleye come from the same family but pike is a bit milder flavored. Only time i eat lake trout or brook trout is if there given to me. I sure wouldnt pay money for it or spend money fishing for it.

I  am about 99 percent certain walleye is part of the perch family, not the pike family. Even though they call them walleye pike.

You are One Hundred percent correct; Walleye, Common-European-Balkhash Perch, Sauger, Common Zander-Volga Zander, Zingel ,Schraeztaer, Ruffe, plus  a gaggle of smaller fish, are all in the Percidae Family.

Northern-Southern-Aquitanian-Black Spotted Pike, Chain-Red Fin-Grass Pickeral, Muskellunge and Mud Minnows are all in the Esocidae Family.

Both families have very good tasting fish, but, too me, Walleye is over hyped , but I have never had a bad Walleye .
The only not good fish I have ever had was warm season bass.
As far as catch and release goes, few fish are as boring to catch as a Walleye; now a Large Bullhead or Large Sunfish lets you know it does not want to come up.

i agree on bass. It sucks for the most part. Most of it here is caught in small lakes and is full of parasites (grubs) so no one eats it anyway. There are some rock bass in the great lakes that dont have grubs but its just to strong tasting for me. The staple fish up here is whitefish from the great lakes. Its plentiful and tastes good. Like walleye its not the greatest fighting fish but id rather eat fish then play with it for 20 minutes. The other staple fish up here is coho and Shinnok salmon. Probably the best smoked fish in my opinion but I prefer whitefish or pike. Sad thing is they planted all those salmon for sport fishers and about destroyed the pike population doing it. Ive got pictures of dad and grandpa standing 10 feet apart hold a rope with  probably 20 HUGE pike they caught in one day on the st. marrys river that connects lake superior to huron. Now fish all day and your lucky to get one or two.

Bratt burgers on the grill last night. I made up a 25 lb batch of bratts yesterday and didnt have enough skins to stuff it all so i made patties and grilled them. First time for the grill this year too. It was actually 50 degrees yesterday. I even worked up a sweat outside working. Only about a foot of snow left in the yard. Spring is here!!

I will lump catfish, walleye, and bluegills together at the top of the heap for good tasting fish.

AS to supper, last night's was BBQ chicken breast, left over Texas style cornbread, and more blackeyed peas.

Last night's fare was Wolf Brand hot chili, no beans, with saltine crackers, freshly diced onion, and some shredded cheddar/jack cheese sprinkled on top.

Original Fritoes have disappeared in this area. There are plenty of lightly salted, hot, and scoops to be found but no original.

Last night was slow cooked venison shank with hen of the wood's mushrooms and a red pepper gravy over wild rice.  Dang good!

Yeah, I don't experiment too much with the mushrooms unless I'm sure of it.  But there are quite a few that you can't mess up, hen of the wood's is one of them and so is chicken of the woods.  They both pop up around September and they keep real easily, I generally dehydrate what we don't eat fresh and then add to roasts, stews and such.  You can parboil and freeze as well.   I found one hen last fall ate a bunch and then still had a 2 gallon bag full of dehydrated left over.

I like puffballs.
I pick them when it's about the size of a baseball and perfectly white.
When they get larger or turn brown I leave them alone.

I peel them, slice them, and saute in butter.

Oh, if you see one growing on the ground, it ain't a puffball.   They're on logs and trees.

What the heck are you talking about???  The giant puffballs around here grow on the ground, never seen one on a log and they get bigger than a basketball and perfectly white throughout.  I made a mushroom soup out of them last fall and it was the best mushroom soup I've ever had.  This fall I'm going to make a large batch and freeze it for soup and gravy base.
