1940 GE table fan

Wow, i found one of these at a home estate sale, just like the one my granny had.And it still works i jumped right on it for 30 bucks. I’m kind of a picker when it comes to things like this. You should see the furniture that is in that house. The house was for sale and every thing in it goes with the sale. An old couple lived there so you can imagine what was in there. Art Deco stuff, so we only had two weeks to buy what we wanted. There was an old calendar hanging on the wall from 1925, very fragile it must have had some significance to it.  The relator was handling the money to send it to the family. That house is a time capsule in there, it was much larger than i thought it was.

Way back in 1990, during a vaction trip; we stopped in a antique store not far from Galena, Ill., they had a shelf full of such fans of different makes.
I bought two, for 20 bucks each.

You got yours for a current VERY good price.
They throw a lot of air off. 8)

That’s what i hear it can mess up your fingers if you get your hands into it. I’m not going to use it, its more of an antique decoration in the guest room. But that room has a ceiling fan. I really wanted some of that old furniture.
It isn’t particle board, its the real stuff. I’m going back on Tuesday and see what else i can grab.

I haven't been to an estate sale in a while
although I'm still on a list with a couple
of different ones.
The last one I went to was just up the
road and there was a house full of pretty
nice useful things.
It was the estate of an older single man
some years older than myself.
I bought a bundle of kitchen knives taped
together in order to get the two I really wanted,
and the sellers had taken the man's folding
knife collection and dumped them all in
one of those big rubbermaid tubs.
I found a couple that I wanted, and was
about ready to pay, then I had a kind of
remorseful feeling all of a sudden.
I felt sorry for the deceased man with
his life's collection of personal treasures
dumped out in plastic tubs with strangers
pawing through everything.
Strange feeling like I've never had before.
Weird
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

We’re going back over there on Tuesday. Gonna clear out what ever we can before the deadline. You just can’t let that furniture go to a house flipper. And that’s all they are.
