:D Howdy Butler,  It sounds like you need to watch your back if you are going to talk to yourself. You never know if there is a man in a white coat lurking around to put you in a straight jacket.

Reckon all the other barflies don't know the telegraph war has done been fixed and we can communicate with the rest of the country?  Don't spose that matters none to Butler, who spends most of his time talkin' to the only one what unnerstands him.  Guess that's ok too, long as he don't get a dialog goin.

Lady GB, great to see you again.  Think I'll just go ahead and buy a round 'fore it gets too crowded and noisy in here.  Bottoms up, folks.

I would like a cup of coffee.

:D Cousins Hamp and Butler,  Wish you were here to help me plant all the native orange daylilies that I got from mom's yesterday.  Got some of the daylilies planted yesterday and will be going outside to plant some more when it warms up.  I forgot to tell you that there were two big trash bags full of them but only one of them was mine. The other one was for Teri, my next door neighbor.  Mom also gave me several different daffodil bulbs for me and Teri to share.  There were also two trash bags of a trumpet lily(that belonged to my grandmother) that mom wanted to thin out.  She kept one of the big bulbs and the rest came home with me.  Teri got one of those trash bags too.

So if you don't see me online you will know that I am playing in the dirt.

:D  Everyone,

This week is going to be a busy one for me.  I have been getting a place ready to planted the trumpet lily bulbs that I got from my mom.  When I get them planted I will then get started cleaning out from under our thornless blackberries and then I will clean out from under blueberry bushes so everything will be ready for our customers when they come in June to pick berries.

I need a drink so if anyone would like to join me I will buy a round.

I like my coffee black, please. Good ta see all ya'll and find everbody a-ok. Hamp, oh Hamp, aint ever had a cup of coffee I didn't like, some more, some less. Got a coffee story fer you folks.
Was back in '67, location was a bayou otside Homa, louisana. As thay use to say on DUM-DE-DUM DUM, Dragnet, I was workin a weekend phone shift fer a Insurance company, I was a claims adjuster.
Got a call 10:30 Friday evening from Lane-Texas one of our clients. They had a boy drown comin back from a rig. I got all tha info and made it to Houma bout 1 AM, down at tha corerner place. They was fixin to do an autopsy.
Seems tha crew boat was bringing in the day shift. They was pushin Lane Texas'  truck on a barge along side the crew boat. There was a two man crew on the rig that was doing tha well test. They had been sittin in tha truck and decided to get a cup of coffee. They crossed from tha barge to the crew boat got their coffee and was headed back to tha truck.
The driver got in an was drinking his coffee, didn't pay no attention his pard was not in tha cab, figured he stopped to take a whiz. after awhile he got to lookin fer him. They found him floatin in tha bayou.
It was a suspeciouse death and they wanted to do an autopsy. Bout 4 AM the cornerer ruled accidential drowning. But I had to interview all tha folks from tha boat.
Made it down to the dock to pick up the crew boat and go out to the rig. The crew that was comin in was the same crew goin back that moring, so I figured gettin all tha witness statements was goin to be easy.
All of a sudden none of them boys could speak anything but that cajun French. I had to interview 10 or 12 boys thru an interperter. Tha funny part was they was talkin english pretty good til they found out what I wanted.
Got to tha rig an found tha head guy. He asked me if i wanted a cup of coffee. YES- hadn't had one all night, it was bout 8AM by now.
That rigman threw a bucket into tha bayou and pulled up a slime covered bucket of water. Poured some into a pan, threw in a handfull of community (dark roast) coffee and brung it ta boil. Then he poured me a cup. Kept me awake fer two days i'm tellin ya.
Blessings
TEXAS, by GOD

Hey, old williamlayton,

Nice story.  Reminds me of the nearly four years I worked in New Orleans.  That dadburned coffee ate a hole in my stomach - seriously.  Still miss suckin' on crawfish heads, peelin' and eatin' boiled shrimp, and chowin' down on mufalettas.  Was also my first exposure to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.
