« on: March 06, 2022, 11:19:31 AM »

Not sure I get your point here.

But today I filled up my truck and it cost $55 and change. Gas was $4 a gallon. Matt told me it is going to $5 soon, very soon, according to his friend in the business. Glad I don't do much driving, gas price per gallon has minimal impact on me cuz I just don't do much going.

I have done that often enough myself; I will be down where the gas gauge says empty (not accurate) but after going through the walking with a gas can often in the eighties, (a different car with a guessimatic gauge)  I will stop at a higher price station and put in what ever amount I thik will get me to where the prices is a lot lower.

I was trying for a bit of ironic sarcasm along with a pinch of hyperbole...  These days $5 of gas will only take one as far as the next pump..

Gas has gotten as high as it was in 2008.  That along with zero down on home loans, and people abandoning their homes because they had to buy gas to get to work caused the Great Recession.  Under Obama we s l o w l y pulled out.  With Trump the economy boomed.  Now gas is up to where it was in 2008.  No drilling permits on government land and no drilling permits offshore, no pipeline construction to get Canadian oil.  The "Green New Deal" is too slow.  New technology takes 20-30 years to become mainstream.  Tesla started in 2010-2012 and only now is GM and Ford starting on electric vehicles.  Not enough and people aren't going to trade in their vehicles that quick.  Then it takes time to build offshore windmills and get farmers and ranchers to allow windmills on their property.  Then solar panels, which work best in the southwest.  We have to drill, drill, drill, and get enough oil and gas flowing to get prices down.  That can take 2 years or more if we started now.  We are in for some hard times the next few years.

I'm glad 99 percent of the time I drive my company car and my wife only drives 10 blocks to work.  My brother voted for Biden and was complaining about gas, I replied you get what you voted for.

3.89 here yesterday. Like bill it doesnt effect me much but my wife is bitching because she still has to go to work. Laughed at her. She goes on a trip with her friends every year somewhere. told her maybe she should stay home and put the money into a commuter car if it really bothers her. Guess it doesnt matter that much to her. She runs the truck and i usualy drive the jeep. We try to keep both at at least 3/4s of a tank. That means i have to top off about once a month. what some fail to factor in though is oil prices effect everything. Not just filling up your truck.  Heating gas, shipping, Food, building materials clothes, heck everything goes up with gas prices go up. Wait till your utility goes in for its annual rate increase meeting and see where your electric bill goes. It effects each and every one of us even if we do use 5 gallons of gas a month. Big rummor today is we may be heading back to rationing and long lines at the stations like we had in the 70s. I was in school still then and can remember dad sending me to the station and getting my ration in a 5 gallon can so he could use it to make it to work. Even that sucked for me because i wanted to drive my car all the time. So we ended up making a deal. Half the gas i got he would pay for and half i would keep and he paid for that too. Still remember waiting in line just to get near the front and the station running out of gas.

Lloyd, I also remember gas rationing in the 70s. Was just out of the service and living in the Phoenix area. We talked about (but didn't) driving to Mexico with a trailer full of Jerry cans because gas was plentiful and cheap there. Of course my truck got about 8 mpg under ideal conditions back then. Now we drive a Ford plug-in hybrid so could just stay here on the mountain most of the time and run on electric power. Has it's advantages.

Thanks, IG as I got it and had a chuckle. Gas was $3.90 here Saturday. I have no idea what it will be today but I have to drive into town to get an x-ray, blood work, and groceries in that order and will get to check prices.

I sure hope this doesn't happen.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/oil-traders-200-per-barrel-report

This would hit the rural areas the hardest, i live 15 miles from town that’s 30 miles round trip. Biden is going to have to start up our domestic oil industry again. EV’S, Electricity is going to go up also. This is going to get bad.$200.00 a barrel? What does that come up to, $7.00 a gallon?

Whether you use much gas or not. The high cost of fuel is going to drive the cost of everything.  At over $5 for a gal. of diesel, just think what its going to cost to deliver that truck load of food to a store? Or that truck load of anything.

There is just a bit of gratification in knowing that all the American hating, ignorant Biden voters are paying for what they voted for. Even though the election was stolen, there were still millions of dopes that voted for this sh*t.

Diesel prices are crazy! Drove past local gas station 3 times yesterday. Every time, price was higher then before.

I’m a dumb bass. Didn’t fill the farms diesel tank before all this.

He’s topping it off. I do the same thing and fill it back up after being down to 3\4 tank. Because we know it might jump up by 30 cents more again overnight.

Most middle class Americans aren’t going to be able to afford these EV,s. Or the electric bill to charge them every day or night.
I saw a Holiday Inn with chargers and they tacked on $40.00 onto your bill for just one night. And the chargers were across the parking lot away from your room. Good place to get vandalized. Is every room in that hotel going to have its own charger?

4.29 here yesterday and that wasnt the scary thing. Only two out of 8 pumps had gas. The rest had signs on them that said no gas. I have visions of the 70s with gas shortages and rationing. Dont know if its a shortage or if its everyone filling up cans before it gets even higher

had a doctors appointment yesterday and after it i had to make a rare appearance in walmart to pick up some 22s and a couple bottles of whiskey. they had 85% burger there in 2lb packs for $10!!! I like the sea food salad they make in there delli. My wife does the shopping so i rarely go into a grocery store but remember last time i bought it i shook my head at 420 a lb. It was 720 a lb yesterday. No thanks. Bought the necessities. Two more bricks of 22s and 2 bottles of bourbon that will last me a couple months. Just was talking to my buddy the other day about crop damage shooting next year. Told him with gas this expensive it might not be worth the bother but at 5 bucks a lb for burger its looking pretty good right now. It takes us about 7 gallons of gas to make the trip. So say 35 bucks by fall. One deer will net me 30 lbs of burger easily. thats a 150 (censored word) dollars worth of meat. I told him there will be no summer sausage or other crap like that next year. Ill fill a freezer with burger and one with steaks and roasts.
