I was wrong.

About my new Nissan Frontier truck, with the 4.0 V6 not getting good gas milage. It is, its just got a smaller fuel tank than what i was used to. Gas gauges don't tell you the fuel consumption only the level. I watched it at the pump and the gallons and my milage in a quarter of the tank. Miles driven divided by gallons used equals miles per gallon.
It was 20 miles per gallon, highway. City miles vary greatly.
