Two women were convicted of committing
food stamp SNAP benefit fraud in the amount
of 1.2 million dollars
Ana Rioja and Maria Consuelo de Ureno and
accomplices were caught and convicted
of making 715 fraudulent purchases using
the SNAP benefits from 83 people
They purchased 49.1 tons of cheese,
22.3 tons of pinto beans, 1.6 tons of Folgers
coffee, 1.4 tons of instant mashed potatoes,
and over 5000 gallons of mayonnaise.
All of it was transported to mexico for resale.
Rioja faces 2 1/2 years in prison
Ureno faces 3 years in prison
