say a prayer for my mother
« on: March 11, 2022, 10:25:16 PM »
Shes in intensive care and her kidneys just wont work. It doesnt look good. Shes not a happy camper and for the most part doesnt like being alive and dad died 3 months ago and shes gone down hill since quickly. Ive been up at the hospital all day for 3 days and she swings from getting better to getting worse. She refuses to get surgery or get set up for kidney dialysis and i guess i dont blame her. Its tough to respect her wishes when we just went though it with dad. For sure if she does pull through it will mean her not going home and going to some nursing home and thats as appealing to her as it would be to me. So its in Gods hands. We all know he doesnt usually leave it up to us.

Sorry to hear that Lloyd.  Spending time with a loved one in a hospital can be pretty depressing.  Praying for your mom, you and family.

Prayers sent..  Her longing to 'join your dad' is a common situation with people who have recently lost a spouse.

Lloyd, Mt dad died at home 15 years ago on October 21st. Mom wouldn't allow him to be put in a rest home, but it took its toll on her. Dad was given 6 months, and lived another 6 or 7 years.
After 14 years of grief, and dementia, mom died on October 20. The bond can't be imagined by kids, or friends.

My dad suffered a major stoke and my Mom took care of him for his remaining two years of life. It was a hard physical struggle for a woman in her seventies that never weighed 120 pounds  in her life but she did it and didn't make one complain during that time. He passed at 75 and she lived to be 6 weeks shy of 106 and never seemed happy during any of the time after Dad died. She often said she wished the good Lord would just let her go.  I can understand to some extent how your mother feels. It's a tough time for you now and you have my best wishes and God does know best.

Sorry Lloyd, prayers sent.
My other half's sister died from similar deliberately ignoring what doctors said she had to do to live, and her husband died about a year before.
Sad, but I have heard what is the point of living from a lot of older people, some close relatives, when what they knew went away.
Godspeed Lloyd, I empathize it is hard.

its been tough. SHe was misserable. In pain, couldnt walk, couldnt leave the house, barely left her bed. Since dad died a few months ago she has gotten worse and doesnt hardly want to even talk to family. Its a tough thing though. Doctors said he can live without dialysis and the only nursing home that will take a dialysis paitent up here is the VA and she has it in her head that the VA home is just full of old men which it isnt. At first after years of just wanting to die she kind of changed her mind like many do when they know it could be real and are afraid to die. I dont really think shes afraid to die its more that shes afraid she may go to hell and if she does we are all going there. Theres no way to bring her home because she would have to be carried down a flight of stairs into a car every other day and drove 60 miles to dialysis and truthfully i dont think shed survive the trip home. Yesterday i think she finally gave up. She would only wake up for a few seconds every hour and she wanted me to tell my son whos learning disabled how much she loves him and then told my sister thats here to tell the other tow who didnt get married in the church that she would rest in peace till they did.  Then she came up with some off the wall thing about after shes cremated she wants to be burried imediately because up here they wait till spring when the ground thaws to bury people who died in the winter and she thinks the catholic church says she cant go to heaven until shes buried in the ground. I told her that ridiculous because theres many soldiers that were burned or blown up and never got buried. But it stuck in her mind. We actually had to get the priest to come up and tell her she wouldnt go to purgatory until shes buried and thats part of the catholic church that id dont believe in one bit.(but please for this post anyway lets not make it into a church vs chruch argument) It was just fabricated to get people in the early days of the church to donate money. Its probably selfish to say it but my other two sisters are in a car coming back from florida and ill sure be glad when they get here to take some of the decisions and pressure off of me. Thanks for all the prayers guys. there really appreciated.
